Location: Spain | Is this possible? If I put a straight edge on my Takamine neck, it touches all the way up, dead straight, when I put it on my Elite, there is a gap from fret 12 to 16...so that means it's bowed , right?
I thought bowed necks were usually bowed in the middle, showing gaps under frets 5 up to about 8 or 9, wouldn't that be more normal?
Cheers

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | What you're seeing is the infamous "14th fret drop off". Lots of guitars have this, not just Ovations. If it causes a buzz, it needs to be taken care of. If not, don't worry about it. |

Location: Spain | But it's making the action way too high...I can't ignore it, it's annoying. :-)
I want it to play easier (if possible) than my Tak, otherwise it aint gonna get used at all :-( |

Location: Texas | Not to hijack the thread, (and maybe I am the only one that doesn't know...not unusual) but I am curious as to what one would have to do to have the infamous "14th fret drop off" corrected. |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Humidify. SLOWLY. When it gets too dry, the top will sink some, and take the end of the fretboard with it. If, after humidifying, the drop off is still bad, you would either need a neck re-set, or if you don't play that far up the neck, you could file the problem frets down. |
