Location: the BIG Metropolis of TR | I'm looking for a Christmas song I've heard and I'm having no luck with Google's lyrics searches...
I don't know the name of the song or the artist (solo male singing)
Song is a couple of years old (?) but I'm just now paying it some attention and I want to learn it.
I know a few lines of the lyrics (pretty close) and I know the last verse, but can't find anything on da net!
I'm hoping someone here at the OFC is familiar with the song and can provide me with the name or artist.
The song is country in flavor and the words and theme are as follows....
Song starts - "Once I asked a little boy. Just what Christmas day was for."
The little boy's reply is something like, it's so he can get more toys...
But the singer goes on to tell about long before there was Santa Claus, elves, and reindeer, etc...there was the baby Jesus.
At the end of each verse and the LAST line in the song is - HE'S THE JOYOUS REASON FOR THE SEASON! (which you would think is the name of the song but Nooooooooooooooo can't be that easy  )
Help me out guys!
Thanks in advance |

Lonestar put out a song "My Christmas List" as well as another one titled "Reason for the Season" so on the possibility that you remembered both songs in the same brain cells... just saying. |

Unfortunately, this forum went with new software in the spring and they didn't keep old posts on file. I'll ask the guy to repost it, and maybe tell us the name and the artist. |

When I Google the lyrics with "Reason for the Season" I get the Lonestar song and another by Kirk Franklin....
Neither is the song.
I hear the song almost everyday at work....but the music is custom made for the store by a third party with ads in place and no D.J. telling you who's singin'
If I knew when the song was coming up I guess I could write down a portion of the words each time til I had the whole song....but that would probably be sometime in March or April :( |

Now that I think about it, it was in your neck of the woods (and why would that surprise me)! |

Thanks for the suggestions but I never know when it'll play again (although it's the same songs in rotation) and the store is so loud now with Christmas nuts...er...I mean shoppers, I doubt if the smart phones could hear it.... |

Now I just have to find someone with a smartphone and have them close when the song plays. :D (My old kerosene fueled cell phone won't work!) |
