| The acoustic guitar forum has added a carbon fiber section. I was reading some threads and all of a sudden it occurred to me. Adamas isn't mentioned by anyone, anywhere. It's more like the Rainsong forum. Other brands are mentioned, but Adamas, like it's poorer cousin Ovation, isn't getting the respect again. it seems to be a long standing tradition. |

Way back when Fender bought Kaman and turned Adamas and USA Ovation into a Custom Order Shop:
I they cannot try it, No One Will Buy It.
My local "Apple Music Row" doesn't have any Adamii or USA Ovations on display.
They aren't gonna keep a very expensive guitar in the shop just for people to Try.
People still recognize my Ovation and Adamas on the street corner.
But it is because of fond memories from the 70's and 80's.
The "I had a nice Ovation back when I was a kid" syndrome.
"Nice Ovation! Do they still make those?"
(uh... No :( ) |

Back on topic, if there was one, I bought my first Adamas without ever playing one, based upon recommendations from this board. The OFC may be the best form of advertising that Ovation has had in the last several years. |

A couple of friends of mine who play up their regularly had never seen an Adamas and assumed all Ovations were the same.....meaning they were clueless as to USA made vs Overseas.
Of course I am biased but the general consensus was that the 2080D literally was in a class all by itself and blew every other guitar that night off the stage.
Will it convert any of them to Ovation/Adamas?
I doubt it. |

I find the issue I run across the most is that while most every guitar player I have ever met has at least heard of Ovation, a large percent of the ones that say they "know what an Adamas is," think it's just a high-end version of that guitar with the plastic round back. They actually do not know at all. |
