Location: Fort Worth, TX | I am curious about something. Since joining this forum I've learned Kaman instruments was sold to Fender and are now Asian made. Is Adamas guitars a separate entity still made in the US? How long ago did Fender buy out Ovation? Curious as to whether my 2006 40th anniv Balladeer (made in Hartford, CT) was under the Fender ownership? |

Just wear protection.

I'd still trust just about anything that came out of the New Hartford factory. |

Three steps back.
If money were to start growing on trees again I'd like to try one of the Baritone O-Fenders... |

The one in the shop around here plays & sounds nice.

That said, IF(and that's a BIG if) I wanted a TX or an AX, I would not buy sight un-seen. |

I have sympathies for everyone building and maintaining a business in the current world climate.
That won't stop any criticism, because that's how Steve Jobs built a better world.... |

I don't really know very much of anything else. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | I'd say that this Fender thing hasn't been as bad as people worried about. A number of mid range guitars have wandered off to Asia (good that they're still being made, bad that things like replaceable necks are not included, bad that some quality seems to have been lost).
The Adamas range was my biggest worry - all going to custom, no non-custom manufacturing. However, a number of shops seem to sell brand new Adamai. So, you don't HAVE to wait 6 months to get one. Either the shops are putting in custom orders, or Ovation are just punching out some on spec without an order (or both?).
The new models look like they are a nice combination of new technology (preamps, contour bowls) with a return of some good old features (hand laid bowls). The wood top Adamas effectively signals the return of the high end Elites that people loved. There's one on Ebay for under $2,000 brand new!
I have two post-Fender Adamai and they are both great guitars, with absolutely no quality issues (as it should be). |

We have collective knowledge of their product offerings, both current and historic, but most everything else is speculation. I've often wondered if the company's strategists and business executives ever give any consideration to what is posted in this and other forums concerning their products. If they do, I wonder how much credibility we have. |

We're huge fans of everything Ovation but have long wondered out loud, and sometimes very loudly, about their marketing strategies with no effect. I think we have credibility as far as guitarists and fans go but not in running their business. |
