| Hello all. New member here.
I've had my Ovation 1527 for approximately 6-7 years, but I know nothing about it except that it's part of the Ultra Series and was made sometime during September of 1977 and April of 1978 (I checked the serial number). Nevertheless, it has served me well throughout the years and still sounds fantastic plugged and unplugged.
Does anyone know anything about my guitar? Was this made in the U.S. or overseas?

| Welcome, richyirich! Good to hear how happy you are with your 1527. I don't know much about the Ultras, so others may chime in with more info. The Ultras are kind of a hybrid, with some components made in Korea, then shipped to CT for final assembly, so they're not like the all-Korean Celebrities, nor are they entirely US-made Ovations. Most people regard them as better quality and better sounding/playing than the Celebs.
Using the serial number to date your O only works for the strictly US-made models. The 1527's were sold from about the mid-1980's to about 1990. You can check the exact years by following the Reference link at the top of this page and then looking at the price list.
Regardless, you're happy with it and as you say it's served you well. Again, welcome and stick around, there's a lot of information, knowledge and friendships to be had here, not to mention GAS.

| g8r,
Thanks for the warm welcome! I feel right at home :)
I appreciate the info about my Ovation. And you're right: It was made sometime in the mid-80s to about early 90s.

Here's a link to your model on the Ovation website. It doesn't go in depth, but it's a start...
