He knows what they're worth, and has priced it accordingly. If I wanted one of these, and wanted a good one, I don't think I'd balk at this price. I doubt you'll find a better guitar for less money. |

I've sold two of these guitars for more than the BIN. I regret selling the last one. It was as nice as this (maybe nicer).

Mine is set up so that it is as easy to play as anything. Do a search for 1537 in the archives and you'll find bunches of stuff. All good. Go for it.
You're lucky I backed out of my promise to give my 1537 to my daughter or I'd buy this one and give one of them to her. (I got her an 83 Collector's instead.) |

I actually logged in to send you a link to this auction. If you trusted my description of the 84C's tone, trust me on this one: You will like the sound these things make! And the price is fair. Mine is at the mothership right now and the price I paid will be about $900 including the factory's spa treatment. The single finish crack is no big deal and has probably been tended to by Ovation. Not many guitars, of any make, sound as nice as these do. :D |

This is a great guitar and the seller is well known here and reliable. That price is very fair. |

The Ibanez JS Y2Ks future in my collection is looking short lived.
As is the Elite Special, and even the LX. |

I have for a long time wanted an Ovation, Adrian Legg just blew me away, technically and tone wise, damn I love that Ovation sound!
So years pass and I finally buy a 2nd hand Applause AE127. God that guitar was fine, we had some great times, me and it and fell back in love with the guitar and playing fingerstyle.
Then I figured I ought to treat myself to a better Ovation. Little did I know...
I bought an Elite Special. A great guitar, has it's own voice and we had fun. But still I wondered...
Then (thanks Patch) I ended up with the 84C, "more Elite Special" he said, well he was kinda right. It's much more but different. I'm having to adjust my playing technique to suit, it just behaves/sings a different way. It needs a lighter, more delicate touch etc. WOW!
Then on a recent trip to the US I sort fo accidentally bought an LX. At first I found it sort of hard to get used (and thankfully) have not really got into it (so to speak).
So the next step from shallow bowl to mid bowl was where could this go?
And here I am with a 1537.
I really do hope thats the end of my journey. |

Once I got the 1537, the escalator went straight down (or up, depending on your viewpoint). I thought it would stop with the OFC guitar, but that was about a year ago and I'm still riding. |

Location: Brighty in Blighty | I am a better musician/guitar player because of the AE127 --> Elite Special without a single doubt.
Had the 84C / LX for too short a time to really measure their effect. Having said that I can already feel that the 84C is something 'special'. A session in the garden, playing through all my current tunes, with the LX really warmed me to it but I really don't want to get to happy with it as it has to go to fund the 5137.
So the plan is to just be with the 84C and 5137, the other two have to go to the 'bay.
Though the Elite Special is kind of cool...
And the LX, hmm...
Damn it, my *BELOVED* Taylor - boo hoo hoo |

Well I have sent two Ebay messages and an email asking about shipping etc prior to paying and *NOTHING*
Hmm! Now if I didn't have the warm feeling from the members here at OFC telling me how trustworthy he is I would be starting to sweat.
How the hell does one contact him? |

Location: Brighty in Blighty | Finally the beast has cleared customs and should be with me tomorrow or Tuesday.
I am continually amazed by the volume/tone of the 84C as it's just a SSB, I've heard the 1537 called a tone monster. Now if thats right I am going to be one happy bunny.
I like the SSBs for practising, the 1537 will be used for acoustic gigs and the Adamas W537 (if I find a CB) for recording...
SEE! You *DO* several Os. Apart from anything else it saves time if you play in a variety of tunings (as I do). Just grab the right git |

Location: SoCal | Dweez, there are other threads on this, but in a nutshell, in 2006, when Ovation came out with the Adamas reissues, they had to build new 2 knobber electronics because they didn't have any of the old ones left.
This was good because the old electronics were a 30 year old design. As long as they were building new electronics, they put some time in on the design. As a result, the new 2 knobber electronics sound much better than the 30 year old design. The same is true for the stacked electronics used in the John Lennon reissues and the Glen Campbell reissues. |

After reading this thread, I called Kim today because my 1537 is at the mothership now. Suffice to say, I left the original electronics in place. What can I say, social workers aren't known for being flush with expendable cash. :p   |
