Location: Munich | well, I hate all this buy-it now auctions in fact I always miss them. there was also a honey sunburst one which was sold for 300 bucks a month ago. but lucky buyer. one day I'll get a black one!!! I love this color soo much. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | If you look closely it looks like they adjusted the bridge for intonation instead of just the saddles. As long as it works, either way is fine, that's why the bridge is really a great bridge style on any guitar. Older B.C. Rich's had a "quad" which was very similar too, and I'm sure there are others. |

I can understand you, I also was depressen when I read this message. perhaps I'll ask maton or another guitar manufacture to built me a black one. unfortunately it wouldn't have the ovation headstock but even better than nothing.

Location: SoCal | have you talked to the seller about your concerns? I have had two guitars (1619 and a 1997-N) that had non-disclosed problems. we agreed to lower the sale price and, in both cases, the $100 adjustment was credited to my PayPal account. |

Location: sacramento | no i still have the guys #. the guy that sold me this guitar had no idea what he had, but with the shape it is in it is worth about $600 i guess since this guitar is the fad right now. i got the guitar the other day and it was poorly wrapped just some boxes over it covered in tape, but the guitar in a case. i'll start from the head. small chip on the bottom(not a big deal) total rust mildew crap on the tuners strings rusty as hell and the reed bridge is broke on the last string and that will cost me $50, however owned this played the hell out of it, the metal fret bars all the way down are indented with the last 3 strings, but not a serious problem, pick-ups rusty as hell(one doesn't even work) and when i pulled them out there was all this mold inside(totally gross crap), volume knobs all need to be replaced and the bridge looked like it had been sitting in acid. some scratches and one small ding, but that is just character. he wrote on his description that it had been sitting in a closet for a decade, but i think he meant sitting in a bath tub during that time. i told the guy that in guitar price guide that it is only worth $225 tops and he said i'll do a flat $600 and cut the $60 shipping. i only thought that i'd have to just clean the guitar up a little and change the strings when i'd get it but damn i was so wrong. i send pics if anybody wants to see how bad i'm talking. |

Location: SoCal | I have no idea on a GP but it sure sounds like more than a superficial cleanup. Maybe Miles, Al, Paul T., or others on the OFC can give you "expert" feedback. If you asked good questions and he failed to disclose, you can give negative feedback and (I believe) make a complaint with eBay. Obviously, easiest for both parties is to adjust the price allowing you a few dollars to fix it. Also, they may be good sources for replacement parts...of course it is 2am for Miles and Al, Paul T. is in England - probably getting their beauty sleep (and, they need it.) |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I'm pretty picky but as long as there is no structural damage and you didn't mention any, it may clean up nice. And frankly for a guitar that has been selling in the 2K range for about a year, if it costs $200 to fix it up, that's not all that bad. Things like the pickup not working might be something as simple as a dirty pot or switch. It's hard to tell without seeing it. I hope it works out for ya. I have restored a few guitars and it's amazing what a little patience and elbow grease can do. |

well although it's sad that your gp is in such a bad shape it'll also be cheaper than another gp's.
surely it sucks if you've got to restaurate a guitar but you'll see that you also will get more connected to that instrument.
would be kind from you to send me those pics you talked about. I collect all gp pics from the net. |

Location: sacramento | yeah i know, i'm glad that i got it for as cheap as i did i just really glad that there is nothing wrong with the body, but i did wonder about the pick-ups, because the guy at the music store told me one is out and i looked at the new super 2 pick-ups and wondered if there is any bit of a sound difference? |

You could have it restored for a few hundred bucks and still come in at less than 50% of the current going rate. I'm sure they'd be a few people reading this board who'd give you a grand or more as it stands. |

I had two Ovation GP's not too long ago. One of them had original Super2's the other had new Super2's. They sounded virtually identical to me. The guitar with the newer Super2's may have had a slightly more 'dark' quality to it - but that doesn't necessarily mean it was the pickups. It could be the wiring & pots, it could be the wood in the guitar, it could be my imagination.....so yeah, I think they sound the same. The older ones had those cool covers though.... |

All the described problems are superficial. As long as she's structurally solid, it's mostly just elbow grease and a little time. Parts for a GP are easy enough to get, wiring is nothing, clean up is less than nothing. You try rebuilding a Soviet '74 Tonika, then we'll talk about "more than I've bargained for". For $600 you did all right there, dude, now fix up that geetar and enjoy the hell out of it, cause it's a great one. Welcome to the GP club :)
