I was really impressed with how well my 2778LX sounded through my Genz-Benz Shen 60 when I first plugged it in. I noticed today when I was re-reading the manual for the guitar that the Genz-Benz is recommended for use with Ovation guitars because it has "been designed to complement our pickup and preamp system". Now, I know that Ovation and Genz-Benz are owned by the same parent company so they would naturally recommend each other, but after hearing my O through the amp, I think it's very possible that the Genz-Benz is built with the O in mind.

I've never had mine plugged into another amp though, so it may sound just as well or better through others, and the recommendation is just marketing.

GB's match up really well with Ovations but they sound great with LR Baggs, K&K Westerns and most others I have been fortunate enough to play.

Is it better than other acoustic amps? I think that really depends on what sound YOU are looking for.

I have owned or played the Fender Acoustasonic, Fishman Acoustic Performer, Trace Elliot and AER and they all sounded terrific...each with their own strengths and weakness.

The only acoustic amp I have played that didn't seem to bond with me was the California Blonde and Strawberry. Neither one did it for me.

I currently own the GB Shenandoah 200 Stereo and the Fishman Acoustic Performer Pro and see no need to look further.

They are good, but there are a bunch of good ones out there. I've got the ShenJr35

I have the Shen. Stereo 60. It's such a versatile amp: for my mono O or A a/e's it sounds really great: full and very lifelike; and with the dual knob’s run stereo, it will bring a smile to your face: it really is an aural treat. However, the true versatility shines in that it can also serve as a portable PA by plugging a mic into the first channel XLR and the guitar into the second channel. Compact and full sounding, this can easily cover a small venue without the need for a bunch of equipment. I carry an SM 58 in my gig bag and take a mic stand, GB, and a guitar or two...works great!

Now that we gig regularly with the Bose L1 PAS I have no use for anything else. It is THAT superior (but pricey: got mine on the 'bay for 1300; new you can pay twice that).

Speaking only of the Genz products, I have an Acoustic Pro and Shen Jr. The Pro sounds absolutely terrific and is now my go-to acoustic amp, but for smaller house and patio parties, I take the Jr. Size is becoming ever so important.
