Location: retired | Can anyone help me? I want to sell my guitar. It is in excellent condition. I got it in a trade back in 1982. Played it very little since I'm not an affectionado. Need some idea of what it is worth so I can put it in newspaper or e-bay, etc. Thanks |

The Matrix (1142, shallow bowl) was made between 1975 and 1978. List price, new was $249 the first two years and $260 the last two years. The top was laminated spruce, and it had an aluminum fretboard.
I have no idea what the current market value of your guitar is. The local mom/pop music store has imported acoustics and A/E's in that price range that are playable, which is what I, as a prospective buyer, would be comparing it to if I were in the market for a new guitar (hehe, like I'm ever out of the market ).
Good luck with it and welcome to the club! (FWIW, I say you keep it, for a beach guitar if nothing else...and become an Ovation affectionado!) |

Location: NJ | I just recently saw a used one for sale in a local GuitarCenter for like $239 (I believe this one was strictly acoustic - and in really good shape). |

My local mom/pop has a 'player' condition Ultra...$550 w/OHSC. They also have a 12-string, but I don't know the model, might be a Balladeer(?) in similar shape and also ~$550. Based on my assessment of their condition, I wouldn't pay anywhere near that for them...they've had them both for at least two or three years, so apparently I'm not alone in that assessment. :\ |
