Thanks so much for checking it out for me.
I'll wait for it show up and take a close look...and perhaps some clear pictures that I can show you if that's okay....then perhaps you can steer me in the right direction.
It looks like it's kind of an ugly little bugger....but I have the world's ugliest dog and she's got a heart of gold and I love her to death. Keeping my fingers crossed this "relationship" will turn out in a similar manner!
Hope the weather is not affecting you too badly. We're waiting here in Scottsdale for it to drift our way.

The UK-II guitars are pretty versatile tone-wise and don't weigh as much as you'd expect. BTW I own 4.
Actually it hasn't been raining here too much today. Although yesterday the humidity was 100%! |

You will like your UKII. With a good set up the action can be amazingly low. The pickups are great. When you get it, if you have any questions, there are experts here that can answer them. (no, I am not one of the experts.)
What acoustic O's do you have?

I love them. Especially my Legend.
I bought a brand new Legend in the 70's.....I wish I still had that one. |

On the topic of the UKII knobs. Someone says they have 'volume' and 'tone' imprinted on them. Are they like the replacement Gibson knobs that have volume/tone on the metal foil insert? I think I saw some of those at StewMac or Allparts (or whatever the other one is). |

My Legend is sunburst.....black/amber.
Beautiful thing! What a comfortable neck too. |

If you're still about....
the UK II knob I need is a volume knob.
Got the guitar today. The eBay seller sent it "3 day UPS" from MA to me in AZ yesterday! Amazing. |

Glenn,
This UK II is great! Everything works and it is in good shape.
I should explain that I am a 49 year old female acoustic player....and only a hack at that....
I decided I'd like to try electric several years ago and bought (shame, shame) a middle of the road Fender American Strat. Didn't really play it much from the get-go and sold it on eBay after a year.
Always look at Ovations on eBay...and happened across the electrics. It never ocurred to me that my favorite acoustic maker even made electrics. Duh!
Anyway, have been lurking around on eBay for months and months then suddenly decided to buy this UK.
I got it yesterday and sat around playing it well past my old lady bedtime. I played it longer than I played that crappy Strat the whole time I owned it. This guitar is so nice and has that way comfortable "O" neck. It feels like my Legend and Elite....but "softer".
Very happy.....though not exactly Jeff Skunk Baxter overnight.
I am, however, Curly Fingers Davis, according to that Blues name thread. Sounds like I got electrocuted.

He did the Reelin' In The Years leads....supposedly after coming into the studio and listening to the song one time. hard to believe. |

This is a very neat site!
Very glad I came across it. It is so nice to know there are other "O" fans out there. I thought I had odd taste, strangely shaped hands, unique aural capacity, or ?????? since everyone else I know seems to own and play and covet a limited range of boring typical guitars.

Thanks for offering mke your 4 control knobs!
I deleted your e-mail by mistake so am answering you this way.
I am a brand new electric Ovation owner and haven't a clue what to offer you for them.
What do you think? |

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Vipers and UK2's would be my choice with a Deacon/Breadwinner coming up after that.
The Viper can still be had for less than $500 and the UK2 for less than $700 based on the last few months.
Vipers are just exceptional guitars that can sound similiar to a Tele or Strat. Necks are usually very nice, though chunky, and they are just a joy to play.
UK2's are the balls to the wall guitar. Super hot pups and a very fast neck. Tonal variation is not as great as the Viper but for a hard rock / metal style guitar it would win hands down. If you like a Les Paul type guitar and sound, the UK2 is lighter, easier to play, and has a LOT more sustain than a Paul. |

(would it be a sin to mount my GK-2 pickup on it? then I could get rid of my Strat and be all O...) |

Location: closely held secret | Thanks Stephen, I appreciate it. But I better hold off a little bit. In the last 2 months I've bought a house, a new car, spent $2300 on a keyboard, drums, DAW hardware, plus $700 on an 1866 that hasn't got here yet.
Even after 26 years of marriage I think my wife might consider homicide if I bought anything else right now.
I'll certainly keep you in mind, though, when she starts talking to me again. ;) |
