When Northcountry bought it from Samova.
I purchased it from him
JR Deacon
Jim Rickard worked for Ovation and was I believe their electronics genius.
This was his personal guitar originally.
Don't feel bad I didn't know who he was originally either.

He has the "Sister" the Jim Messina Deacon.
Might try and pry it from him when I see him at the NW Jam in July
You should visit.

He is a really nice guy and has shared some cool history and photos with me. He also has a Deacon PG just like the one on "our" Jim Deacons.
Gotta love this place! |

| Bill ask him to come to the Factory Tour. If you feel comfortable doing that? His Dad was a real genius with the electronics and if not for him working with your dad and all the luthiers Ovation would never have been the company it became. I'd love to meet him, I am sure a lot of us would ! he'd be a real celebrity with this group. No funny intended there.
I am playing a Dean now for an electric, I love it, and I am not worried about finger scratches or giging with it like I was with this rare Deacon.
I am not quite the collector I wanted to be. I do not have the wallet for it and I play them all the time. A bit of a weekend gig warrior as well. It is in good hands with Jim, as he has several other deacons he can play regularly if he so wishes.
