Description (revised)

Hi Cats and kittens!

I'm looking for a new owner for my MINT condition, (used but never abused), sunburst, CUSTOM LEGEND 12 STRING acoustic-electric guitar purchased new in 1986. Original locking HARD CASE included. This guitar has a lot of beautiful ABALONE, a CARVED BRIDGE, and EBONY FRETBOARD. Sold with ELIXR STRINGS, the action is low and fast. Nothing else sounds as good! An investment quality guitar that will last a lifetime! (They aren't making any more of these...)

$1,500 Firm.

Will e-Mail pics to you.

Best Wishes,

Jim Giatas

From Ovation:

The early years of Ovation were marked by numerous innovations and a dizzying array of new models. Ovation was discovering just how large a niche it could carve in the acoustic guitar market. Like any new successful company, it tested the waters in a number of new directions.

With the introduction of the first viable acoustic/electric guitar in 1971, Ovation began to capture a large percentage of touring pros. Ovations gave them the power to fill an arena with acoustic sound, something they'd never been able to do before.

With this success at the highest level of acoustic guitardom, it was time for Ovation to introduce an ultra-premium instrument. In 1974, Ovation introduced the first Custom Legend. Based on the top-of-the-line Legend, it featured a number of upgrades and further innovations.

The Custom Legend soundboard received the most attention. Only the best available spruce - designated AAA - was sourced for the Custom Legend. A new bracing pattern that had been in development for some time also debuted - the Ovation "A". Characterized by 7 light braces in a narrow fan pattern from the soundhole to the tail of the guitar, this pattern allowed the select top to generate a tremendous amount of acoustic power.

Installed on a deep, non-cutaway body (the first cutaway was still 8 years down the road), the soundboard was bound with several hundred pieces of hand-inlaid abalone. The inlay work was completed with an abalone rosette and fingerboard markers. A carved bridge and truss rod cover, along with gold hardware and pearl tuner buttons made for a luxurious and visually stunning instrument.

For both its exceptional performance and impressive looks, the Custom Legend became the choice of many of the world's top touring pros, including Al Di Meola, Paul McCartney and Paul Simon among others.
