Greetings, all. I typically don't announce my new membership on web forums, but I truly love my Ovation. It's a 1985 Adamas 1687-9 in the reverse gold(?) burst finish, and was purchased on 6/18/85 by my grandfather in New Hampsire.

Anyway, I have been poking around a bit and have read a little about what the "-9" on the model number signifies. Can someone clarify that for me so I know for sure?

I uploaded some photos using the photo album utility on this site, and I'm curious as to anything anyone can tell me about this guitar. I'd be glad to learn as much about it as possible.

Cheers,

~Brent

Kinda late/early for our regular OFCers, but you're gonna get a lot of attention with that beaut!

Welcome Brent.

That's sure a beauty, complete with Beal's signature.

The "9" indicates the colour, which in this case is brown.
I've a 94 1581-9 Adamas 11

All you ever need to know about Ovation guitars is available from the members here.

aloha and welcome, brent!
that's a grand guitar. i own one just like it but haven't seen it yet. it is scheduled for delivery on wednesday. the first one i ever saw was featured here on jerome's ovation tribute site. you can click on the youtube link there and see the bellamy brothers playing the custom one made for them. i'm not sure what is different other than the engraved tuners and the label. the next one i saw was in witko's ovation gallery under the adamas link. and then i saw the one i am getting on eBay last week. it's an older model from 1978 but had a "spa treatment" at the factory in 2005. thanks for the pics you have uploaded. we just crave pics around here. your 1687-9 is gorgeous. hang around awhile. we've a few other michiganders who are prominent members here.

From one Michigander to another, welcome Brent!

Folks, Brent here lives in that ancient Chinese town of Lan-Sing. That is also the home of Elderly Music. It would be nice to have a shop like that within easy visiting range.

Welcome Brent,

Hope you enjoy your time spent on this forum.

How about a picture of your guitar.

Instructions on how to do it are at the top of the For Sale section. Wabbit was kind enough to post them. He's a computer Geek.
