I saw that. I hope Quincy doesn't see it and think his 12 string is too valuable to bring to the NW Gathering.

Sheyute! I got a one-of-a-kind Honey-Burst Pacemaker...

[Strings look awfully high, the nut is falling off, definitely needs a truss-rod adjustment, and they don't know how to string a slot-head]

I wanna see what they get!

Not when you can buy a GC 12 string in Australia for way less:
Glen Campbell 12 String

Ring 'em up and tell 'em they're dreamin'

Not unless it comes strapped to a car. ;)

Had to do a doubletake when i first looked at it.. kinda looked like Tupp's MIA GC12 for a sec.

For the price he's asking, he could have splurged on a red blanket instead of just the sheet.

The more pictures you post, the more you can ask for it. It is the unwritten rule.

I'm sure rooting for it! I've got one that's a few digits earlier ... and it's in much, much better shape (near mint on this guys scale) ... and, I've got an original, period correct case (though I don't think it's a Lifton but it fits real well). For you, my friends, the first $3K takes it. I take PayPal, wire transfer, or gold coins.

Seriously ... knowing what is being asked for other guitars of that period in that kind of shape, I don't see why a great example of an early Balladeer 12 (or a DB, or a Josh, etc) shouldn't be worth $5K. They sound great, they look great, and they play great. They got 40 years of life on them. That's usually when life starts getting good.

First of all, I have no problem with someone listing a guitar of any make at what it really is worth, if even just to himself.

I have far more respect for someone who will declare what he or she feels it is worth.

Might not sell, but that is another matter.

I have A-347. They are wonderful guitars. If I had been introduced to one in 1970, I wouldn't have gotten a Martin D-18...that simple. A boomer in D tuning.

Now, or in a couple of years, it will sell for its true value.

The question shouldn't be is it worth $6000.00, but, would you PAY $6000.00 for that?? The majority of this "group" knows enough about the Ovation line to make that "call". I wouldn't!

His listing says "Free Shipping" yet the shipping calculator shows $148.70 shipped to my location.

In terms that a vintage Martin might fetch half of that, I would say NO.

Used Ovations unfortunately do not get what they are worth.

Interesting.
I always thought those keys were Klusons.
I don't remember the early ones like that having the bridges bolted, certainly not on naturals.
In nice shape though, and it should go for that. But it's a 12 and they don't get the big bucks. I've got a 72 D-28-12 in basically new unplayed condition and can't get $2000 for it.

I agreee with Pez. I think this guitar needs some documented history of note to fetch that kind of a sales price at this time.

"excellent condition"???
I think not.
At least he was good enough to document all the bumps and nicks with good photos.

Wouldn't spend that myself, but more power to the seller. If and when the general guitar-buying public wakes up to the bang-for-the-buck value of old Ovations, many of us could be sitting on fortunes. But then most of us wouldn't be able to afford what we have in our collections.

I would expect original case, case candy, keys, original receipt, pics, a tuner, amp, and free shipping.

And it had better turn into a woman at night.

I don't see the value in a guitar that won't let you touch it after the sun goes down.
