Location: Archbald, Pennsylvania | I just bought a Taylor T5 Standard ($1,999.00) in Cherry Sunburst over spruce top
And don't know if it's really me. I used it for a whole band gig Friday night and even though it is beautiful, extremely well built & very easy to play, for my 3-pc. band live playing it doesn't give me what my Hamer Duotone Custom, or my Carvin AE-185 give me. Both the Carvin & Hamer always gives me a 2nd output that's pure acoustic tone, not matter what I play on the electric side. The Taylor has great acoustic & Electric tones but only 1 output.
So I had to A/B it, run one line to my acoustic amp./pa and the other to my amp, but it has a 5-way switch that changes the tone a little with each of the 5 positions. Through my acoustic amp/pa all 5 positions sound great and have acoustic tones but I am used to the acoustic output to stay the same. It's brand new/mint condition. I used it for 1 band gig. Has the feel of an acoustic but plays like an electric. Can be even used for solo gigs it does sound that good. Through a guitar amp it has very good electric, jazzy sounds as well.
I'm just use to 2 separate outputs, acoustic & electric at same time.
Very light. Beautiful color, detail and workmanship. Paid $1,999.00 for it. Alligator leather type case.
I am 48 years old and have never ripped off anyone. I have traded 36 times with Harmony Central users, a few times with Hamer Fan Club users, and also with people on the Craiglist. I have many good references.
I will sell for $1,700 plus shipping, or give me trade options with piezo equipped electrics.
Thanks,
John Quinn

Location: Archbald, Pennsylvania | It's not a bad guitar, it plays and sounds great.
But for live gigs with my 3-pc. band I am spoiled by my Hamer Duotone Custom & Carvin AE185. They give me both excellent separate electric and acoustic tones at the same time. The T5 will give you both excellent electric and acoustic tones but separately. What really bothers me is that the build quality is excellent, it feels so good and it's gorgeous. | |
