Location: Florida | Greetings, I am new to the board and wanted to find out if anyone has suggested sale prices on the following guitars:
1. Adamas 1598-MERC 12-string (Ruby)
w Adamas Case, Condition: Perfect
2. Adamas 1597-4G 6-string (Graphite)
w Adamas Case, Condition: Perfect
3. 1974 Ovation Balladeer 1112-4 (Natural)
w Ovation Case, Professionally Installed Fishman Natural II UST, Condition: Excellent
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

To get the going prices run a search on Ebay completed auctions. The Adamas instruments should have some current data.
The (Custom)Balladeer will be harder to place.
My best guess in order for median asking prices would be:
$1100
$950
$300
A lot of first time posters come in looking for price evaluations and after some disappointment, run off. If you look around this board you will find how much Ovation owners value their instruments beyond the dollar value.

Two 1598s went up on ebay last week, both excellent to mint condition; one with the Hex-FX preamp sold for $1100, Mint one with an entry bid of $1400 went unsold.
The 1597s all go for a grand-ish - $1100.
If you are serious about selling the MERC please contact me. |

Location: Florida | Thanks for the prompt replies. The prices you suggest (believe or not) are right on the money for what I figured. I am considering selling these guitars to add a Gibson Dove to my current stable (see below). At $3700, I would still be quite short. Mitzdawg, the MERC would be the last one to go -- as it not only soinds amazing, it looks amazing.
Any way, it nice to know where I stand on pricing. Thanks again!

Good luck, though. |

Location: Florida | Ah, Captain -- an erroneous presumption! I never said I was willing to sell all my Ovations. I was looking at pricing to see what my options were. I really doubt I could let 1598-MERC go. As for selling the Martin, not a chance! Only 404 made and it is without a doubt the finest instrument I own.
The intent of my email wasn't to bash Ovation. I just won't wrap myself up that bashing game that seems prevalent on these discussion boards (I'm sure you know what I mean). Some folks just seem intent on slamming certain brands. Anyone who "hates Gibson" ought to sit down and play my Hummingbird. All those Ovation bashers should spend an afternoon with my Adamas'.
Anyway -- I really do appreciate all your feedback and comments. These discussion boards are a valuable resource! |
