I have a adamas 6581 that was given to me as a gift. It is in good condition and I was wondering if any one would like to buy. It has no damage to it and has been kept in a case.

Welcome!

Great way to start off by the way! :D

Do you have pictures available and a price in mind? Are you not a guitar player anymore? those are nice units.

Yes, the often maligned and infamous center soundhole Adamas!! Put it on ebay. The last center soundhole Adamas that sold on ebay went for $750 and the one before that went for more..(The 6581 is a deep bowl)

The Adamas 6581 in the 1998 catalogue is a multi-sound hole textured top cut-away

Thanks Bobby, I didn't know that. I thought I had remembered seeing the 6581 as a deep bowl center hole cutaway....with the 6591 and w591 as mid bowls. Maybe Lost Art/Vintage Instruments can clarify for us?...

6591 is an Adamas with round center hole. Last one went for $963 on eBay.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know what this was. I'm sure the rest of you already know that that Adamas site doesn't list the discontinued models like the Ovation site does.

..still think I remember seeing a deep bowl center-hole Adamas, thought it was a 6581...maybe it was just a fluke..

The only other variant I recall hearing mentioned is possibly a textured top. I can say with some authority that the 6591 is a mid bowl, SMT style, one holer, six string with Optima (and all that implies) preamp. I'm betting the 6581 is going either turn out to be deep or textured (could it include both  )

Mornin' Chatman, I'm certain there is a specific code, as it were, in the model numbers. I didn't think the 6000 series Adamas codes could also designate a multi-sound hole model. I thought I had seen a deep bowl center-hole Adamas, since I have spend a lot of time looking for them. They have a few center-hole models listed on overseas websites, korea, japan, etc, but they are quite expensive. I imagine we'll figure this out sooner or later..

I got his pictures.

It is a multi-hole Adamas II deep bowl, texture top with Optima Preamp and it is red (my favorite).

It also has a single inlay on the Walnut Fretboard at the 12th fret that looks like "{<>}".

Here is a link to the 1998 Ovation catalog with the picture of the Adamas 6581-OB. It looks like a SMT except it has a textured top.

I just got the same pictures, although I couldn't tell if it was a deep or mid bowl. Looks like the same preamp as my 99 Collector's, so I assume it was about the same vintage. Red is also my favorite color, but I've been reminding my wife that she said I should get a blue one ever since she saw the pictures of Dave's Adamases. Too bad he didn't email the pictures yesterday. It was my birthday and I'm sure my wife would have bought it for me. (Where's that sarcasm gremlin?)

Thanks for the information, hoho. Then I'm assuming the 6591/w591 were all single sound-hole/midbowls. I remember the one in a bronze (BZ) finish. I guess Ovation will make you just about anything you want. I saw a Longneck on ebay once with a Tobaccoburst finish.

My last post wasn't referring to the pictures in the catalog, but the pictures that MWoody said he got in an email. Anyway, the pictures the seller sent me look the same as the pics in the catalog. Nice burgandy.

The 1998 catalog lists the 6581 as:
Multiple soundhole
Deep cutaway bowl
Textured carbon fiber top
Optima preamp with 1/4" and XLR outs
Ebony fretboard with 1 maple inlay at 12th
Comes in high gloss black (5HG) or opaque burgandy (OB)
Made in 1998 & 1999 only.

Yeah, I guess that's the one. I have that catalog but I guess never noticed the model numbers. Was this the "last harrah" for the textured tops as standard US models?

1998 was a big year for Ovation as they introduced 5 new Adamas... the Adamas Q (Q181), SMT 1597, SMT 1598 (12-string), SMT 6591 (center hole) and the 6581 (textured SMT).

The red one was on eBay last week. I think fugot picked it up for around $1000.
