Location: Minden, Nebraska | I kinda liked Tacoma guitars in the past. I wonder if much has changed since Fender bought them.
I played Guild acoustics exclusively before switching to Ovations. I still like Guilds, but cringe at the idea of some of them being made in China. THAT is a Fender marketing move.
I suppose there were those who felt the same way when Ovation outsourced a line of less expensive guitars, but that was before my time as a fan. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | I remember when the D-40 was introduced, or at least when I became aware of it. In particular, the Mandolin Brothers and Elderly Instrument catalogs showed the D-40C, which I believe may have been the first Guild acoustic cutaway production model. I SO wanted one, but was a very broke college student.
Some times good things DO come to those that wait, and a few years later I got a great deal on a late '60's D50 ($250 with case). That guitar was a cannon, but my needs changed and I traded it for my first two Ovations.
I do confess to having a Guild DC1 in my herd now. |
