I'm making room for a custom order Adamas
This 1537 is in extraordinary condition. Was seen and played at the 2006 OFC tour by many members here. I can't call it mint, but it's close. Sounds terrific. Plays terrific. Electronics are perfect. You will not be disappointed.
Pictures on my "Opics" page (there are two 1537s on that page. This one is in the 3 photos just before the u681t). I can also provide detailed pictures on request. |

If you're in the market for a 1537 (I would be, but for this 'money' infatuation Jeff has...) this is a great example. |

This is to quote another member, "The best sounding 1537, even better than mine". Jeff wont call it mint only because he's freakishly particular about some things, like the dog hair under the strings in one of his pics.... :D |

Location: Houston, Texas | I might add a few comments here, having just acquired a 1537. For those who don't have some of the nicer Ovation and Adamas guitars that everyone raves about on this board, you won't find a better value in a first class instrument than the 1537.
The deep bowl, floating fretboard, stereo electronics and first class spruce top on these guitars all add up to an amazing instrument for both acoustic and plugged in use. It is exceptionally good for recording, with the stereo output placing the listener inside the instrument and surrounded by it's exceptional sound. It has an incredible balance between a smooth mellow low end and a clean crisp high end.
In the time I've spent playing around with recording since I acquired mine, I am absolutely amazed that I can produce in my living room such an incredible sound. When compared with my recording attempts with my S771, this guitar produces a professional sounding result as opposed to a home-recorded amatuer sound. I thought some of my S771 stuff sounded pretty good but I never thought I could produce what I've been able to achieve with the 1537. |

I have Stephan's Black 1537, this natural one would be a great companion. Ah well, perhaps in a few months.
These really are great sounding guitars -- so unique.

If I take the 1537 over as my passenger, would you keep it for a couple weeks so I can bring it back after the 19th? On the 19th we'll be taking my daughter back to UP, so I may not have room for my guitar on the way up, but would have lots of room on the way back. |

I got to play Jeff W's in CT last month (jammin with Al and Cliff on Moondance!) and enjoyed it. I'm trying to justify getting one... maybe if I have yours for a couple weeks my wife will fall in love with the sound. |

Wednesday night at the Chop Shop at West LA Music, I was given a set of Adamas 1818's (lights). I put them on last night and found that rich deep mellow sound that I had been searching to re-find.
Congrats to whoever bought it. |

Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | Hey guys...I'm the "esteemed" colleague. Kind of reminds me when my neighbor said they were looking for someone "mature" to watch their kid for a couple hours. My wife and I looked at each other and laughed and said we better go get our daughter.
I've always wanted to tell someone "the check's in the mail!" and now I've done it. I'm looking forward to receiving this beauty. Certainly looks like Jeff's done a great job of taking care of it. Also picked up a nice tip on Adamas strings from Moody.
I told my wife a couple years ago I'd love to buy a NEW guitar someday. And each time I buy a guitar, they seem to get older and older.
Looks like I'll have to sell my Adamas 1681-5 to make room for the 1537. And like so many others here, I'm looking forward to checking out Jeff's new custom Adamas. Great stuff. Love those O's!

Jim [/QB] Goodness Jim, a 1681 would have been one I was interested in trading my 1537 for a month ago....you are going to love the 1537.
On the topic of strings, I just replaced my Elixirs with some 1818's and I guess I am not quite as happy with them. I find them to be kind of "ringy" whereas the Elixirs where more mellow sounding. Not a bad sound, just different than what I have had on it for the last 10 years. I am going to run with them for a while and see if they mellow out a bit with time. |

I've been using Elixir Custom Light Nanowebs for quite a while now, but I recently put a set of Dean Markley Alchemy Gold strings on my 1537 and they sound exceptionally well. Good bass tones, very bright, lots of nice overtones but without the "ringy" sound that I've found with every set of phosphur bronze strings. Like Moody, I've tried many different strings on the 1537, and to my ear these are the best.
BTW, I've get strings from Sweetwater now because they don't charge for shipping.

Jeff: I feel a much higher degree of confidence buying from the OFC instead of Ebay. I'm sure I'll love the 1537. Let's just hope for good shipping now. |

Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | Hey Moody:
Here's how I feel about my 1773 LX. I like it a lot and I play it at least a little bit every day. However, for me, I don't like it as much as my Adamas 1681. And because I just bought Jeff's 1537, I'm going to have a tough decision to make. I need to sell one guitar. That's because in a recent moment of weakness, I bid on an old Pacemaker (I've wanted one for a long time) and actually won it. It was one of those deals where the seller wasn't paying attention and had the auction ending at 3:00 AM. So I placed a low bid before going to bed and found out the next morning that I'd won. This happened right before buying Jeff's 1537. My wife knows about the 1537 but I haven't figured out how to tell her I bought 2 guitars at the same time! I really wasn't expecting to win the Pacemaker so it was sort of an accident! I'm sure my wife will buy that one! The fun part is that this is a good bad situation to be in. I'll have to choose between some very fine guitars and I'll get to keep all but one. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Jim, try "Oops." I did the 2 guitar deal in one day with the Classic and Custom Balladeer. Then I did the ebay oops on the Ultra GS and had to have an amp, so I bought it the same day. After a year she got over it, but then this Spring I bought the Country Artist off Craigslist and almost the same day got surprised when I had the high bid on the Folklore. I only got minor grief for those 2.
So the moral of the story is, if SWMBO is going to give you a bad time for buying a guitar, you may as well do 2 at once. You'll feel worse for selling one than you felt for buying 2. |

And don't ever say you have enough guitars. My daughter bought me a T shirt that says "you can never have too many guitars." I wear it all the time. |
