I have to find one before the end of the month, cause were haveing a pickin and grinning party, and my Brother is gonna bring his martin,so it could be our last time to get to play together because of age and distance. I wouldnt miss this chance for the world,, so I need all of you guys to give me suggestion,,guides,,and all of the help that you can,, because I dont want to spend $500.+ dollars and not get what I want, which again is the loud booming and thunderous Ovation,, What is the top of the line in Ovation??

Location: Phoenix AZ | Hi Joyce,
First of all it sounds like your get together with your brother is going to be something really special and (just my opinion) what ever guitar you bring is probably the most insignificant thing in the world. Don't fret it, show up and enjoy the time with your brother no matter what guitars you are playing.
Now, you DID ask for my opinion so here goes. For the "most" part the difference between Balladeer and Legend in the $500. used range is mostly cosmetic. Pretty much they will sound the same, at least one's not going to be head and shoulders different than the other. For $500. you should be able to find something that'll definately get the job done.
A lot of times around this board we spend hours on end debating the various shades of beige. There's more important things in life. Go enjoy your pickin and grinning party with your brother!

Location: SoCal | I've got a 1972 model #1111 Balladeer that is in almost perfect condition (no dings, cracks, or scratches) that I'm about to put on ebay. All I want is $300 for it plus shipping, which is what I bought it for, about 3 years ago.
I got it for nostalgic reasons and almost never play it.
Joyce, if you're interested, let me know. | |
