I just turned 50, I have 20 plus guitars in my collection, my beautiful and loving wife bought me a new 30th anniversary Adamas (original top). ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS: SHOW THIS TO YOUR WIFE. :D
With 5 Adamas guitars this guy should be a member.
Very nice guitar. |

Does anyone know this seller (is he one of "us"??).
He seems Adamas-knowledgeable, states that he has 5 of 'em, and just got a RI. . . . |

He apparently has a long background (from the early 70s) with Os and As, has had a sit down, discussion with Charlie Kaman, and has a love for the quality of the older instruments. He sounds like he'd fit right in here. |

I am bidding on this one... I guess it broke me down! I kept looking at it and all of a sudden that single epaulet design was something I liked!

povation Hey, look who's talking! I'm a ways past 50, don't have close to 20 guitars and only 1 Adamas. If I showed this to my wife, she'd say I should be selling mine, like that guy.
She saw a picture of Dave's though and said, "OOO, you don't have a blue one." I consider that permission to buy Dave's. I kind of like the soundholes on both sides and don't really need the cutaway, though. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I don't think my wife is as understanding as yours. Maybe I just haven't tested the limits. Besides, my guitars never travelled with the Oak Ridge boys and I like the sound of the new Adamas that I have, the U681t. It's also the only Adamas I have.
Personally, I like red guitars. The #47 RI is just right in my opinion. But if my wife insists on a blue one, I won't argue with her. |

She's hinting that I should get a new Porsche, too, but I have only put 70,000 on this one, so I'm not ready yet. She's on to the "which color do you like better, red or blue?" trick, though. I think her mother trained her on that one. |

B. Better
C. Oooohhh, no
:D
The truth is, unplugged my Adamas II (shallow bowl) is not the best sounding guitar I own. Both my shallow CL and my deep-body Elite beat it hands-down. The tone and purity of the sound, however, are incredible. And, plug it in, and it blows you away totally.
I play my A2 with a buddy's Taylor 414ce, and the Adamas completely blows it out of the water amped.
On the other side, pick up a deep-body Adamas and play it, then play some high-end Martins, Breedlove, etc, and then play the Adamas again. It will feel like coming home. I played an Adamas 1680 a while ago (deep, non-cutaway, 12-fret slothead) and I will still say that it is the most incredible guitar I have EVER played, or even heard played (and that's with my cruddy playing!).
These vintage Adamaii are well worth it. They're virtually immune to chips, cracks, and the other typical issues with older guitars, and sound as sweet as honey...
Did I do a good job? Can you feel the GAS yet?

Location: Phoenix AZ | Personal opinion for unplugged Adamas sound: "Grail" is the 1187 Slothead either original or reissue. The original is more historic and should certainly be your first choice, but the reissue sounds at least equally as good. Following closely behind would be the 12 fretters: W681-TA, U681-TA (and U691-TA if you want a cutaway), 1680, U681. Then the Adamas I and Adamas II models, including reissues. Just my opinion ... | Cliff, Dave....and the rest of the slothead experts...What would you guy's say is the reason these slotheads sound better than a standard Adamas 1? I appologise if you have already talked this topic to death but I have not been lucky enough to have tried one of these beautiful original flagship models and I know how good the first and second generation adamas's sound. is there a steeper angle on those headstocks??
Thanks Randy |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Randy, I have no good answer. You could read lots of techno babble in the vault about this. But it's just a sum of the parts, how they are made, how they are put together, and some certain mojo thrown in on top. It just WORKS.

I've got a friend Lou who is very accomplished and I love to "jam" with him because I just sit around and listen to how my guitars are really supposed to sound.

| Northcountry is letting this one go guy's. I have a feeling Spider may end up with it. I have only bid $50 more than it is at now. And it will certainly go higher than that. If not, I will be very happy as well as amazed!
Nice guitar. But that second custom legend did not sell and I am into a new Double Neck and a Helicon Voice Live unit this month so I can swing it but I am over my limit if you see my point.
Note; I have a double neck Epiphone in the red mohagany identical to Jimmy Page's Gibson but not the name that gives it the $2,500 value. (This is for sale as well, Cheap! $500)
Anyway go for it guy's! Nice Adamas and I certainly would like to see this stay in the family. Bill, the seller is interested in this group and I think will make a fantastic member as a Pro musician himself.

| We have obscene Guitar budgets Mark but yeah they have limits. Good thing is... it is an investment. Musical instruments seem to hold a good value when you buy them at a fair price and slightly used. New instruments can be a great investment as well but it is very long term for them to become valuable. I have a great 1769 custom legend deep bowl I paid $1k for and I should get my $1K back out of it and so will the next guy as long as it is kept well. That is why I am not real concerned about tying up so much cash in instruments. I should not loose any money.... and these things give me so much pleasure and life drive I just can't imagine ever making a bad buy. It all evens out in the end and sometimes ya actually come out on top a little.
By the way has anyone noticed how many people have looked at the Adamas I am bidding. I do not remember seeing an auction with over 2200 views!

| I know it Mark, semi sad about it too, This guitar is great! but I have a line on another I'd rather have that has the color set up I want and the dual sound hole pattern I am more accustomed to and in a cutaway. I'd say this one went about $300.00 under the money myself, even with the repair spot.
Stephen: Yes, I took the plunge, but no, I do not have it yet. I am sure this thing will keep me up nights trying to figure it out. I actually bought two units. I bought an Antares unit as well. I am not sure if I will need the harmonies so much. But thepitch correction will work great for us. I have so many harmonies to hit this will help keep me "ON" I hope.
I will let you guy's know what I think of them, if your interested?
May take me a while, I hate learning how to set these things. I am a true Dinosaur with electronics.

| That is my dirty little plan. Just moving a little slower than I usually do. This has been a busy and expensive music equipment month. Mike has me on the top of the list and with his continued generous patience. I should be able to make a move soon for him.
