Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | I think widenecks sound different, too. True, mine is about 35 years old, and has only two braces in the top. Generally, a lot easier to fingerpick, too.

I really liked the wide neck, just cuz I got fat finger-tips. But I also got short fingers... When I got the P-strat, I got used to a skinnier neck, good for barre chords.
Now both my O's are somewhere in between, which is cool.
