Not sure if this is kosher for my first post, but my 1981 Legend (1617-4) was stolen from the church the Monday after Thanksgiving. I have already replaced it with a beautiful 1991 vintage 1767-4 that I found on eBay. Not only am I a fan of the feel and sound of Ovations, but now I'm a huge fan of Ovation customer service as well.

After I reported the theft to the local police, I emailed Ovation to see if they still had my serial number on record from an inquiry I had made 2 years ago about returning the guitar for some work. Even though I had never actually returned the guitar (I use it every week for worship leadership), they still had the serial number. My new (to me) 1767 arrived missing one of the endpins that holds the bridge saddle in place. When I contacted Ovation again to see about buying two new ones, they sent me two ... free of charge.

While I think I'm going to like my "new" guitar even better than my old one, the old one was my first Ovation and served me well for 25 years. It has a special place in my heart. I was just wondering if I could ask Ovation fans to keep an eye out. The case has a couple of large oval stickers on it (one from WorldChangers) and some damage above the 4th latch (from a mission trip to Brazil in 2000). The top of the guitar has a major crack just above the bridge. I was waiting until it became absolutely necessary to have that repaired. Serial number is available on request.

Thanks.

Bummer... but you are right-on about customer service at Ovation. Enjoy the new axe. I'm sure if any folks round here run into a legend matching yours... they'd give you a heads-up.

Mo, sorry about the loss. Most likely in the hands of some local reprebates that need some attention and a lot of grace.

We think the Ovation Customer Service is incredible!

Watch Ebay and Craigslist for your guitar to show up on. Also you can register the serial numbers at www.ovationgallery.com and the rest of us can check against it if something shows up.

Welcome!

Woody has some good ideas. I use the Ovation Gallery to check my serial numbers, sometimes when I'm just too lazy to go downstairs and check them on the guitars.

MWoody and Mark - great advice. I've put the info up on the gallery. I'm hopeful, but not expectant (if that makes any sense).

Trboy - I'm in Clinton.
