Location: Upper Left USA | Maybe its time to bring back a few of the helpful hints that have been shared in the past!
1) Keep the cases out of sight and out from under foot. Four guitars and four four cases spread around the house says you have eight guitars and they are in the way!
2) Keep their room sacred! Leaving your guitar around the Living room, for example, may be a violation of their space.
3) Kids move out = you get the music room.
4) Rotate stock frequently. Make them aware that "this one is a loaner" and doesn't count in the final tally.
5) When you sell a guitar make sure they know that one is leaving! Have them help stuff the pizza boxes or tape it for shipment.
6) When you buy a guitar do not leave the wrappings around! These need to be hung immediately and shipping boxes stowed.
Does that help? |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I was watching this thing with nobody bidding. I KNEW some of you had to have your eyes on it. I just wanted to have my name in there. My wife has been watching from time to time (every 2 minutes). Never thought in a million years it would go to me at THAT price!
I emailed the seller and told her it caught me by surprise but I would honor my bid if she insisted. I also said that it occurred to me SHE may be really disappointed at the price she got. I told her that I'd let it go if she would rather keep it than sell at that price.
Maryanne is REALLY mad and says I need to just plain BACK OUT.

Yes, a few of us were watching...to be honest, I did let it go knowing you had bid. The difference between want and need.
It is a good deal, keep it if you can... |

Did the seller respond? She really might want to keep it rather than let it go at that price...(That was a good attempt)...
Maybe buy it and try to flip it. You might find someone here willing to help you out or, in a little time, you just might get a better price for it... |

What do you think? John <>{ In the words of Pres. Clinton, "I feel your pain."
A while back, over on the Guitars by Leo Discussion Page , I posted a brief synopsis of my latest gambit. Essentially, I convinced SWMBO that the purchase of the Saturday Night Special was really a "loan" from our "special projects" account to my "guitar fund" account. Further, there might have been some promise-type-sounding words in there about flipping one of the sets of pickups it came with for a cash prepayment of the "interest" charged from the "special projects" account to the "guitar fund" account for said "loan." She might also have thought that she heard me say that I was going to flip the SNL within mere months (which mistaken notion I may not have disabused her of).
Anyway, I contend that I can only control the words that come out of my mouth, not the way that her brain re-assembles them for interpretation. Maybe that would work for you. ;)
Good luck with your situation, which ever way it shakes out.
(Note: I'm a very lucky man) |

She knows I didn't try to pull one over on her (she's smarter than me anyway). I honestly bid just goofing around. She knew that.
I reminded her of a lesson I learned some time ago. Our church had bid on a piece of land, then backed out when we realized it wasn't in our best interest. Later on a friend of mine on the board commented. He said "I've been in business for 25 years. My word means everything. I would have sucked it up and bought the land to keep our word, and make it right for us in another way."
So I paid for the guitar. My word is good. I may flip it in the near future. I may bring it on the tour and see if anyone's interested. I know I'll sleep well tonight next to someone who loves me in spite of the idiot I am sometimes. Thanks for everything, Lord!

John,
You should be able to turn this one pretty easily if you're not going to keep it. |

An eBay bid is a contract. For both parties.

All is well here. Maryanne read all your posts and got lots of laughs out of it all. (what's SWMBO?)
The future looks good. Question: The only Adamas I've owned was a W597. As for this one...is the neck the only difference between a 1 and a II? Is this the same hand-laid bowl as the Adamas I?
My big interest in this is that I love the sound of an Elite T with bass-only soundholes. I figure this must be the absolute ultimate in that regard. |

Whether you end up keeping it or selling it, you got a GREAT guitar at an unbelievable price and you did the right thing. My guess is that you do a whole lot more right things than wrong and Maryanne knows that. When it arrives, tell us what you think of it!
... Just try not to cut any holes in it :D |

Now you are starting to sound like a good husband.
If all you have owned is the 597, you are in for a treat when you start to play this one. |

A few days ago Pam re-stated that the Breadwinner and the old Balladeer are not going anywhere...ever. I then told her how special the AD-II and UTE are and how I can't see parting with either of them. To this my wife suggested that perhaps the next guitar, (next???? Did she say NEXT??), should be one that I can rotate in and out as the wants/needs or new models come up.
On top of all that, while discussing the budget for the upcoming year one of the first things she brought up was how we need to have money ready for the OFC Tour.
And to be fair, I have supported and encouraged her new scrapbooking hobby that she enjoys so much. |

That would have given him time to convince his wife that it was a good idea. Maybe one of us could have convinced our wife that we should keep it if John wasn't having much success. |
