Location: Alabama | badgolferman2000 = bgm2000 = Keith. Soon as it arrives I will let everyone know how it is. I also have a 1769 that will soon be headed in to the mothership for a repair on a crack in the top, a 1117, and a breadwinner project waiting to begin. However - this happily unexpected purchase will push back the breadwinner. My girlfriend is supposed to help me take some photos and I will try to post them as soon as possible.
I love the sound of the 1117 and with all the good things you guys say about the 1537 I couldnt pass it up. |

Location: Alabama | I tried to walk away - even went out with friends for an hour or so, had a beverage and it was still there when I got back. I was also feeling the loss of the Adamas that Thierry snagged the other day as I was watching and let the end of the auction slide by without even bidding. Oh well - I think this will help ease the pain. :) |

Norse(...Congrats bro, but I think your golf game probably just took another hit...unless you have room in your caddy bag to tote your 1537 with you to the golfcourse, cause something tells me she won't be getting set down for a while!)man1 |

Location: Alabama | The tracking info says due for delivery today. However, the low here in the deep south was 27 this morning so I do not think it wise to open the guitar upon arrival. The thread about sub freezing temps has me paranoid. Any tips or suggestions to minimize risk? The guitar has already had one crack repaired at the factory so I would rather not have another. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

| When it arrives bring it inside and let it sit unopened for 24 hours. It will gradually warm up and should be fine. |

I suggest using an Em chord first. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | It's really tough to wait after you bring it in from outside. I recommend having someone else bring it in and leave it sit inside while you try to work for a few hours. I don't think anyone could wait 24 hours before opening a 1537. I've had guitars shipped with much bigger temperature swings than that with no problem. Just don't do anything to drastic. |

Location: Alabama | Bummer.... Guitar has been opened and has a 3.5" through wood crack approx 1/4" above the old repaired crack. The top is not level across the crack. Mild pressure does not cause the top to move much at all. The crack is not visible in the auction pics. There are also a few very minor finish cracks near the bridge (all less that 1/2" and not parallel to the grain)and one 3" finish crack at the end of the fingerboard that curves across the grain. I have emailed the seller to see if any of these were there prior to shippping. Thoughts? Suggestions? |

Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | I am so sorry to hear this Bro...I've had it happen too many times myself. Seller doesn't mention the cracks, nor are they visible in the pics...it would be my guess that those apes handling your guitar didn't exactly "Handle With Care". I swear some of those delivery guys go out of their way to damage stuff (or at least out of spite when they see a "Fragile" or "Handle With Care" sticker). Too bad there is not a system to track every worker who handles your product in case of damage...I realize weather and other factors play a role, but I have no doubt that if there were a way to hold EVERY package handler accountable, you could cut the amount of damaged goods by 80%...at least!
Hope all works out for you. Truly sorry. I know it's not comforting to hear at this point...but cracks and all, you will still have a great guitar! |

| bgm2000,
Ask the seller if he purchased insurance. I bought my 1767 from a collector in Arizona and he bought insurance included in my shipping costs. |

Location: Alabama | Insurance was purchased in addition to the purchase price as per the terms of the auction. The seller responded quickly and is willing to make a claim on the insurance. He said he would check his pics for the small finish cracks but did not remember any and was adamant that there was not a crack of that severity when he packed it up. The shipping carton was an original SCGC guitar box and the guitar was packaged very well with bubble wrap. It does not show any signs of even moderate abouse/damage. He is the original owner and said he would check if the warranty still applied to the guitar as his or if it is transferable. I would be surprised if the warranty transferred but when does the warranty stop covering the original owner, upon close of the sale or receipt of the guitar? So it looks like it will all work out, it will just require more patience. |

Good deal nonetheless. Hopefully you will get something on the insurance claim. For about $300 you can have the factory fix the cracks and re-finish the top. Then you'll have a "like new" 1537. |

| Sounds like it will all work out. You'll have an original 1537 top factory-repaired to new condition. The best of both worlds... |

Plaintiff's Claims Law 102: The damage happened while the guitar was in FedEx's custody. INSIST that the guitar was damaged from being mishandled even though the box was clearly marked "Fragile." Send the guitar back to the factory for a written estimate for repair. You need to email Kim Keller (kkeller-kmc@kaman.com) for return authorization and insructions. Tell Kim that the guitar was damaged during shipping. Don't settle with FedEx until you send them the written estimate. Then demand the FULL repair cost and see what happens. |
