I'm very nervous about this but:

For those of you who remember me buying this 4 days after Christmas, it's an '84 with very little wear for it's age. A little enamel scratched off the back here and there, a slight bit of nail dig-in at the money frets (no fret ware).
OHSC with a broken latch and a torn lid restraint. Other than that it's OK.

I want $1550+shipping. Being that I'm a really nice person, I'll provide full disclosure here. I paid 1200+50 shipping. I want to pay off the 1250 on my Visa card+cover the $50 to ship it to you...plus $300 for the used Seagull S6 I wanna get in it's stead.

So there you go. If I sell it at my price I get a 6string I'll be OK with. If I don't sell it at my price I'll keep it.

Ask me about it here, but if you seriously want it send me a private message. John <>{

I've played a couple of Seagull S6's that I thought were very nice guitars. Ok, so they're not 47RI's but if you're looking for a nice little box that sounds great for the outlay, I think you're crazy not to look at 'em.

Just one guys opinion. Good luck, John.

Don't know about the S6 part, but my friend has an ancient Hippie-days Seagull. It seems like a solidly made guitar to me. His sounded okay, except the strings were like six months old. "Dude! I change my strings regularly, whether they need it or not. And yours need it!"
Anyway, seems like solid guitars.

Clearly you can't compare the S6 to the 1581. That's OK.

My wife asked me if this is really what I want to do. I told her of course not. If I had my way we'd own a Land Rover instead of a Ford Escape. I'm OK with the Escape.

I don't think there are any. I looked last night and asked him to email some to me. Perhaps he'll post some here for all of us.

I remember seeing this guitar on eBay, but I don't think there were many pictures that displayed the true condition of the guitar.

John, if you're reading, just post them here and you won't be bombarded with requests.

First of all, let me just say that I can't ALWAYS spend ALL my time on this site. My real life called me away for a while. (Anyone else had this problem?)

Now...I am extremely technically challenged and haven't got a clue how to put pics on here OR in my gallery. I tried to follow the directions for the gallery once and got that little blue thing and gave up.
I emailed Todd 10 pics yesterday. Todd...if you know how to put them up here please do. And you have my #, so if you want to give me a call and walk me through putting pics here I'd appreciate it.

Sorry for my stupidity everyone. John <>{

If John agrees, I will send pics to anyone who wants what John sent to me if I can't post them either.

I am going to bow out of this gracefully and thank John for spending some of his time with me on this one. After talking with my wife, we came to the conclusion that now wasn't the time. If my Christmas bonus is healthier this year then we will agree to me upgrading or just buying another guitar.

Happy VD everyone!!

Well, allow me to hijack this a little since you brought it up.

Our tax return will allow us to put new carpet throughout our townhouse. Trust me when I tell you that it needs replaced.

This reminds me of our Christmas present to one another this year. I asked her if she wanted me to build (with some help) a nice headboard for our bed or buy/install hardwood flooring in our kitchen and the dining room. It only took her two seconds to opt for the hardwood. That worked out well for her--I did all the work while she was out of town. The same will go for the carpet.

She's going to owe me when this is all done. At least I'll keep telling myself that 'cause I can talk a pretty big game...

WOW That is gorgeous! Does it have some kind of composite top? It looks like there is wood grain in the top. I'm not familiar with that model.

Only in the epp's.

That is a nice color, John. Don't hate me, but I'm secretly hoping you'll have/get to keep it.

Maybe I am, too. I'm not sure. If I still have it in May I'll bring it on the Tour. If someone there wants to buy it I might sell it then. I might say "No thanks." Right now if someone wants it I'm selling. I'm in a weak emotional season. And I'd like to pay off the credit card. But if I don't my wife won't be upset with me. She's not upset with me now. And if I don't sell it the mortgage will still get paid and we'll still eat 3 meals a day. We'll still eat WELL.

How much do I owe for this session?

john,
credit card remorse sucks, but if it were my decision to make, i'd keep the guitar. it is sweet! alotta folks have credit cards but ain't nobody else in the world got that guitar. your wife is a sweet keeper too.

a mortgage, 3 meals a day, a great woman and a great guitar ~ what else could a man desire?

O.K. Vince. I looked at that picture again and I can see why you thought that. I hope I didn't seem like I was jumping on you.

John, I don't think you owe anyone on this board a dime for your therapy this week. Alot of other people use this board for that. I think we all need to communicate our feelings like you just did. I've made a habit of doing that here and now I twitch only half as much as I used to.

Either way you go John, I'm sure you'll make the right decision. Best of luck.

Wrong again! I'd love to buy it, just can't afford it. Good luck.
