Location: Phoenix AZ | That's the OPTIMA preamp, introduced around 1996. It was pretty popular until about 3 or so years ago with the OP-30/40/50/Pro/etc. came onto the scene. Your estimate of 5 years old might not be too far off. Dave |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | I happen to like the Optima preamp, though I don't hold a brief for it over its successors. It made its debut on the Adamas line and then was standard on the top USA Ovations until the new generation replaced it. |

Location: Munich, Germany | Optima was introduced with the 94 Collector's. Still my favorite preamp. But when it comes to amplified acoustic sound, nothing beats the old one knob OP-24 - in my ears. |

Location: NJ | Anybody have experience with these pre-amps??
This appears to be the one in my LongNeck Adamas (looks like it, anyway).
When I hit the tuner button, the green "ok" LED blinks, and that's it . . . doesn't do anything else. The pre-amp works GREAT otherwise, and I hardly ever really USE the tuner (ironically, this is the only guitar that I have that HAS a tuner). I usually just grab a "D" off one of the other guitars nearby and tune to that, or (at a gig) I'll use the Boss that's a lot more accurate and easier t'read . . .
Like I said, it's no big deal, but thought that perhaps (yet again) I'm doing something wrong . . . |

Location: closely held secret | Cliff, are you talking about the Optima?
I have it on the 1581 and 1759. Tuner works fine, though it seems to take longer to recognize the frequency of the lower pitched strings than the newer preamps (OP40, 50, PRO). |

Location: Boise, Idaho | My tuner works fine on the Optima on the 99 Collector, except that it doesn't stay off. It seems to come on in the middle of the night and use up the battery. Battery is dead now because I forgot to take it out. Sounds like combining mine with Cliff's would get at least one that worked correctly. |
