All-Koa guitar with a bunch of abalone snakes winding their way out of the soundhole and up the fingerboard . . .
It's a little "over the top", but at least it's somewhat thematic and inventively done. It's a nice piece of "art" (with a $75K price tag).
I'd take IT over EITHER of those Martins. They just look like LouisXVI just got done sneezing on 'em . . .

Location: big island | i think dave is not inclined to so much bling which is why i posted this rather sarcastically. i'm sure those martins sound great but i don't believe the bling makes them sound better. i think it is over-the-top gaudiness. |

Run through didn't sound half bad yesterday at the ceegar shop, but I think battle of the bands competition will be pretty stiff. Having a great time here at the Frisky Mermaid. Bluegrass open mic monday night, last night a guitar/voc/banjer duo who weren't half bad (they even played some blues on banjo - tasty). Good food, drink, sunshine, fishing, cool little historic town. I could give it all away and do this ...
As for the D50, no thanks. Even if I could afford it, I really think it's an ugly guitar. An abalone guitar with some wood trim. Yeah, what Bill said - I'm liking this sunburst Collings dread very much. Probably out of my league, but who knows ....
