I am listing my 1983 Ovation Elite 1537-4 here on the OFC for a few days and will then, if necessary, list it on eBay this Sunday. This was a very difficult decision to make but I strongly desire another guitar and can only afford it by selling one of my O's to help fund it. Since the W597 is my primary gigging guitar and less prone to problems from Hawaii's climate, the 1537 is the obvious choice and certainly the most desirable of the two.
The guitar is in extremely fine condition with very few light pick scratches that are not photographable. A bit of retouched paint on the back around the access hole, and a tiny, pencil lead sized chip off the top of the volume knob. There are no other issues. This guitar was serviced at the Mothership about six years ago when it was in Jeff W's possession. I purchased it from StellarJim 2 months ago for $975.00 plus shipping. I am asking $975.00 including shipping to the US. I will consider shipping internationally for $900.00 plus shipping expenses. I can accept Paypal if the buyer is willing to split the fees with me. Preferred method of payment would be money order or bank check.
Photos of the guitar may be viewed in my gallery. You may also see and hear the guitar on the YouTube clip posted in my signature line below. Keep in mind that what you hear is a compressed audio file, which still sounds good, but believe me, it is much better in the flesh! I am playing plugged in to my Marshall AS80R acoustic amp with stereo chorus.
Mahalo!

My mind is racing with possible schemes... the best one starts with "Honey, we're going to Hawaii"! That could be one expensive guitar.
Sweet guitar, nice price, preloaded with Slack Key tunes. Good choice Randy.
Watch Takamine this year! |

I have ovation running through my blood, but when something sounds better, plays better, and feel better you just can't ignore it. My middle age crisis is that I'm caring far less what guitars say on their headstocks and far moree anbout how they sound.
FYI - I've made quite a few additions to my Tak website. Check it out:

What a beautiful guitar and what a great talant that you have for playing! I would love to have this but I have just made several purchases this week so I would have to let something go in order to do that! I will say that anyone who thinks that Ovations don't have a sound should listen to you play this Elite and then think again! Thanks for sharing and best wishes! Even if I am unable to get it: I hope someone in the club get it!
Blessings,
Mike W. |

Before to know him 3 years ago, I had only one Ovation.
Now, I've got 12 but I don't have any regret!! :D
This 1537 is on my wish list but I can't afford it at this time.

What did I miss and I was just in Hilo friday & saturday! I need to find another job that will allow me more time no this computer!!! I was just telling my wife that 1537 will be a great one to have and I even showed her your clip. By the way she said it sounded beautiful! Good luck with the new Tak! I just finish Easter service worship and need to get back for our 2nd service!

on the contrary...you need a job or anything else that keeps you away from the computer. especially away from things like the OFC forum where you will be racked by chronic GAS pains.
what you missed is well documented in the Sell/Trade forum under the thread : "FOR SALE: ADAMAS I 1688..."
next time you're in hilo, holler loudly. |
