Location: Wisconsin | Okay guys...here they come. My family and I are moving in the next month or so and I need to trim the fat. It has been a very, very difficult decision to sell these guitars as I love each and every one of them. But in the interest of paring down and simplifying, I am letting these friends go. Each guitar is in very good shape. I can email pics upon request. I hope that these can stay in the OFC family, but If they don't sell here, I am going to put them up on eBay within a couple weeks.
87 Collector's -- excellent shape with only 1 finish crack running from cutaway down to under the strings. No wear at all on frets, looks and plays like a dream. This is the collector's to have. Of course the original case is included. $975 shipped to your door.
1624 Country Artist -- wonderful sounding and playing nylon string. This one is in excellent condition with no cracks in finish or wood at all. Only very light pick scuffs that can easily be buffed away. No wear on frets. No other chips or blemishes. Includes original case in excellent condition. $450 shipped to your door.
1681 Adamas -- blue in excellent shape. This is one of the original 2 knobbers. Very little wear on frets. Looks and sounds awesome. No dings or scrapes or scratches. This baby is in awesome shape. Serial number 2072. $1250 shipped to your door.
1537 -- natural finish, low action, plays like butter and sounds like, well like a 1537. Just awesome! Its in great playing shape but has some cosmetic issues. It has a finish crack running up from the lower bout and a couple of other dings. This has been the guitar that I have kept by my desk at work to pick up when I have a few minutes. Just a great guitar. I really wouldn't be getting rid of this one except that I have another 1537 that I will be keeping. Of all the wood-topped Ovations that I have owned, the 1537 is the cream (in my opinion). $600 shipped to your door.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Peace. |

Some questions that have come to mind: What finish and what year built.
Thanks,

Location: big island | well...i have decided to forego getting the takamine. as much as i would like to have one, it is impractical for me to get an all-wood guitar to do hawaiian gigs with. for acoustic gigs, i also need something with more volume. that's why i am inquiring about the 1681. |

These really are the cream of the Ovation crop. |

PS - They won't match the headstock on your 1688, but I understand ;) |

Location: big island | there's $500.00 difference in the price between the 1581 and the 1681. a guitar with a matching headstock will cost almost twice the price of the 1681. hmmmm...
incisions, incisions...whoops, i meant decisions, |

Randy, it really comes down to whether or not you'd rather have the cutaway. If you don't spend a lot of time at the 12th fret or beyond it doesn't matter. The 1681's are beautiful guitars. |

You need a UTE to fill that string hole.

1681 is a sweet guitar and I have owned a couple but I really prefer the sound and flexibility of the cutaway models. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I would buy the 1581 at GC for $1000. Complete new 2-knob electronics from the RI is about $300. For that price you would have your self one hell of a guitar for the money.

Dave i'm fairly handy at working on guitars, installing pickups, yada, yada, yada. if i got the 1581 from GC and decided to put the new 2 knobber system in, is that something i could do at home or should it be sent to the mommyship?
also, i read on a post here recently from someone who contacted the factory, that there really aren't any "new" 2 knob electronics, that the original has not been updated. true or not? |

I had asked John Budny to give me a quote on installing the "new updated" two knobber from the Adamas reissues, and he told me that there is no difference between them and the originals (but he would do it if I insisted, for $150) |

I'm sure it's waiting at home for me right now, I'll definitely let you know when it arrives. Of course, some drug sniffing customs dog could have torn it apart. I've heard that drugs are sometimes smuggled in bundles of coffee, So I've heard.
Thanks again for passing on the Ovation history book with such style. I think you've started a tradition, I'll have to think of a regional delicacy to include with the book when I pass it on. |

by the time it got here, that cheesesteak would have made a decent bookmarker. |
