Just to let you guys know....I am putting an Ovation Elite 1537 and an Adamas 1681 on eBay. The 1537 begins Friday night and the Adamas begins on Saturday night.

The 1537 is natural in color and is as sweet as any 1537. It does have a finish crack and 2 small dings around the edge, but plays and sounds awesome. If you want to buy it before it goes up for auction, I will let it go for $625 delivered to any address in the lower 48 states.

The Adamas 1681 is blue and is in near mint condition. It is a 2 knobber from the first year of Adamas II production (1981?). There are no issues with this guitar and sounds as good as any Adamas. These older deep bowl textured top Adamii really are awesome. If you want to buy it before it hits the 'bay, you can buy it for $1200 delivered to any address in the lower 48.

I will probably have more O's up for sale as I have honed in on the few guitars that work best for me. I'll be sure to give you guys first dibs before sending it to eBay.

WOW....$625 and $1200 are OUTSTANDING prices for those 2 guitars. Hopefully someone from the OFC will snap them up before you have to go the fleabay route.

Right now, I am having a wonderful time playing my Adamas 1187 Reissue and FD-14. At church I use my Ute to lead children in worship. A while ago I had my 1987 Collector's advertised in this forum for sale, but lately I have been playing it quite a bit and have fallen back in love with it.

We just moved, and I am in the mood to pare down the stuff in my life. Its so hard to pick the guitars to let go of, but I've found that once I find them new homes, I am just as happy with those that I have chosen to keep. And I figure that if I miss them enough, I can always have the fun in searching and acquiring them again.

Thanks for your support of my sales.

1187 Reissue, FD14, U681 and '87 Collectors, ... certainly explains why the others are expendable.

Nice set of guitars.

Indeed it is a nice set. I'm sure someone here will grab the 1537 and 1681 at those prices.
I was in the market for a 1537 for a long time before I found my 87C. Since then the GAS has subsided.

I beleive I have at last found a keeper in the 1537. I actually like it better than the 1681. Someone should jump on this one, even if it needs a little work. "They ain't makin' em no more!"

rtmoose, you need to get some pics of those guitars up in a gallery! Wow, you definitely have an eye for the "more elusive" of the Ovation line.

RTMoose,

Please contact me about the Elite 1537. The Adamas sounds very nice, but way over my budget of $600.

I'd like to buy this guitar if still available. I'm also sending you a PM and email if possible.

Regards,
Mark

Randy,

I saw that, and I'll be in Wisconsin on the 8th-13th! Just depends where he is in Wisconsin. Of course it isn't as hard to get around Wisconsin as it is Hawaii.

BTW, I really miss the Tak :-(

I NEED A GUITAR...but I don't have any money. :-(

Champagne dreams and Mad Dog money.

Mark

Thanks guys for letting me know that this is a great opportunity. I hope we can close the deal shortly because I need a guitar!

I don't expect this guitar to replace the Tak. The Tak was suppose to be in Randy's hands. It just took an extra step to get there. It was meant to be his all the time. Sometimes letting something go only makes us appreciate it that much more. Whether that is viewed as Randy letting it go or me letting it go is inconsequential. It simply was meant to be Randy's and I'm confident it is his purpose to get it and mine to have tried it.

I'd like to add something about this forum. I've hovered around here only from time to time. I normally spent time on other forums looking for guitars to satisfy my GAS.

I really appreciate those forums for what they are. No need to mention them, they are what they are.

As common and unfounded as it is said, Ovations don't get enough respect from guitarists. I think most of that is regurgetation to fit into a group.

The 2003 Collectors I owned was a wonderful guitar. I really do miss it. I have no idea how this guitar will compare, though I hope favorably.

More importantly, I find myself visiting here more and more. Maybe its because there is more attention to substance instead of the name on the headstock. That isn't to say that some manufactures don't reserve the respect they deserve (and lack thereof), because they do. But, I know I can mention other manufacturers around here and most folks would say nice things about them. Reciprocity isn't always the case elsewhere. I don't believe it's well founded and I read posts every once in a while from an Ovation owner who defends them, but it usually falls on indifferent ears.

Maybe I'm realizing that there's more to these guitars than what I heard around. That's ok even if they don't pan out becuase I've truly enjoyed my time here.

How else would I have learned about the Tak? I can't think of another forum where someone would have given me an opportunity to share in the experience of owning one without something in it for themselves. I'm not saying that would be wrong, it just isn't the type of member here. And, I'm not saying that all other forums are bad. I hope I don't have to waste any more of your time explaining myself. If I do, I'm sorry.

Sorry for the rant. Just my long-winded way (hey, I'm from CHICAGO!) of saying thanks for everything.

Regards,
Mark

Randy,

I'm sending him payment tomorrow. Then its just waiting.

I've read about sending guitars back to the factory to get reconditioned, etc... I don't think this guitar needs anything, but I was wondering if it needed anything what is the process to get it to the factory?

I think this guitar will be as comfortable with me as I will be with it. There are newer guitars with newer electronics, but everyone really compliments this guitar. So, I'm very much looking forward to getting it!

Thanks again for everyone's help and insight.

Regards,
Mark

You will not be disappointed, Mark. If it does need anything, send an email to either John Budney or Kim Keller. I cannot emphasize enough how good these guys are to deal with but don't take my word for it - just do a search. Their work is well documented. Just let 'em know if you think you have an issue and the rest of it will take care of itself.

Good luck and enjoy.

Congrats on your new 1537 Mark, if once you get it and think it could use a spa treatment at the mothership, just contact John B. (I can send you his email, just PM me) and get a return authorization #. Once they get it, they'll give you a quote, at which point you can decide what you want done.

They did about twice as much work as we discussed and basically brought my 1537 back to showroom new quality for the originally quoted price. So whatever amount of work they do, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Congratulations Mark! As I recall you were worried about finding a nice guitar in your price range! That is a great deal on a 1537.

Trust me, you'll love the big beautiful full sound. stereo output, great neck. There are a lot of great guitars, Ovation and others, but the 1537 is a unique and special instrument. Like I said - you'll never regret buying a 1537.

Did I mention they are loud!

Congrats on your 1537 Mark. I wish you're anywhere close to where Bill [Weaser P] resides to check out his 1537 -- completely restored from the factory and some. The guitar is down-right gorgeous, and the tone is just awesome.

"IF" you're in my neck of the woods, you may want to check out Mitchrx's Custom Legend, which was also completely restored from the factory. What the factory had done to these guitars will make a believer out of you, and as Grif mentioned "you won't be disappointed."

Great grab Mark! This is the cream of the Ovation crop. As everyone else has said, the boys at the factory do work that borders on magical, if you need to send it there. I can't say enough about their response and workmanship in my experience with them.

Oh, unfortunately I make myself known way too much already!

Many thanks to everyone about their support about this guitar. It's great to know that the members on this forum are genuinely interested in making other people happy.

Money order is on its way to Arthur and he's already shipping the guitar! Very nice gesture.

I'm happy for the new owner of the Adamas. Gorgeous guitar and I'd have bought it if I had more money. I'm sure I'll be very happy with the 1537. So, its a win-win-win for everyone!

Regards,

I must admit, it was I.

Initially I was interested in one of those export models Al has/had. So I decided to consolidate my 'inventory' by selling off a bunch of . Then I thought maybe I'd buy a , but those seem to be universally frowned upon.

My wife, upon finding out about my plans said, , but once I explained that the four guitar cases stashed in P-body's room (under the crib, in the spare closet, in the corner...) would no longer be cluttering the place up, she said, .

Anyway, the 1681 popped up; (mostly) right guitar and the (sort of) right time. Arthur and I came to an agreement on , and now I'm just waiting for delivery.

The planned 'consolidation' continues, but after posting repeatedly on various boards about (my limited knowledge of) the VXT, I'm thinking once Al can get those in with a -4 finish... :D

So, once I have the Adamas, you think I can become one of the ???
