Interesting that both the bridge and fingerboard appear to be ebony rather than walnut. Maybe it's had a factory refurb at some point. That aside it looks fine and the price is OK even at the BIN

Hi Paul,
I appreciate this kind of information. So, unless this guitar was special-ordered with ebony instead of walnut, it's been back to the factory... They don't provide a model# or serial# or any other history...It's for sale in Vermont so maybe it didn't travel far from Connecticut...

Tuner buttons are ebony too. My guess would be a later refurb rather than a custom order. Frankly, ebony is a better bet than walnut. I've seen more than a few early Adamas with the fingerboards badly worn, so maybe that was the case with this one. If it's been back to the factory for the work it'll be as good as new.

Looks like they just used black stain on the fingerboard and bridge, look at how dark the inlays are. It's still walnut I'd bet. Looks like the standard electronics

Good point Bill, those inlays did look a bit dark to me. I know the walnut picks up a darker tone from the oil in your fingers, so maybe they just wanted to get the whole fretboard all one color.

I concur, someone's been a little over-enthusiastic with the india ink.

I'm beginning to wonder what they could use to darken the neck as it should be "epoxy impregnated walnut" would stain actually take on that finish. Maybe after playing it for a while your fingertips would start to turn dark. DOH.......

It might just be that someone used furniture polish to clean the fingerboard. I don't think the seller knows much more about the guitar, but I'll ask him, see what he says...

It's at least the second listing on that one. I'd be tempted if I didn't have too many in the stable already.

Hi folks
I took this quitar in trade approx two years ago , (from California, it has traveled some). the fellow I got it from `seemed' knowledgable about Ovations and sent the one I traded him back to the factory for a pre-amp upgrade,so I took his word on this one. He said it had a `resin impregnted walnut fretboard' as stated in the ebay ad. He did not say anything about `staining' the fretboard so I don't know if that is true or not. He also said the frets were dressed recently (three years ++ ago ?) but said nothing about planing the fretboard.Dressing does not usually mean planed as well. I have no secrets about this guitar or my entire life story, warts and all,so ask away.

Welcome tljr1... there is alot of knowledge and experience on this site and everyone kinda of looks after each other when guitars are offered for sale on any level. Please don't take any comments about your Adamas personally, it is just observations based on years of Adamas and Ovation ownership. Any more information that you can provide will help, and any further pictures could not hurt.

Stick around for awhile, we are a pretty tamed group (except for Cliff).

Best regards...Jim

tljr1, It looks like just a normal Ad2 that someone wiped black stain on the f/b and bridge. That's fine, it looks good and shouldn't lower the value at all. Other than that it looks like a real good guitar and should bring what any other Ad2 should bring. The electronics look like the original with two knobs (unless I missed something in the picture)
Good luck moving it, maybe someone here will grab it, they've been known to do that sometimes.
