Location: West Palm Beach, FL | I'm looking to sell a guitar that my brother gave me. It's an Ovation 1115-4. I'm including the hard case, a wall hanging bracket, and the Dean Markley pick-up that goes with the guitar. My brother used this guitar in the recording studio on a couple of his albums and other artists used it on their albums as well. This guitar has toured the world, but it's not playing any music just sitting in my closet.
Part of my problem is that I don't know how much this guitar is worth...I figured some of you here could tell me it's value even if you weren't interested in buying it.
I look forward to hearing from you.

I know there is the actual value of the guitar, but I'm also trying to consider the previous ownership of the guitar...my brother. He's been nominated for over 3 Grammy's and has platinum and gold records and this guitar was used on some of those albums. I know it truly may not add anything to the value of the guitar, but I think it should :p |

Are we talking about playing the guitar, or a Wall Hanging?
Is it signed? Is your brother John Lennon, Jim Croce, Cat Steven, Bob Seeger, or anyone interesting?
Do you have documentation? If so, this probably ain't the place to sell it. |

He's no John, Jim, Cat, or Bob, but he's interesting...and considering his music it's even more interesting that he used this guitar. That's neither here nor there...is the consensus the guitar is worth between $400 - $500 just as the guitar (no emotional/celebrity value)? |

Who is your brother and what were his feelings about the purple lining? Brother is lead singer/lead guitar for Ministry. He never really said anything about the purple lining. |

I was basing that on a "pristene" specimen . . .
I don't wanna be accused of being a member of the "PricePolice", but with the wear/tear on it, I (personally) wouldn't pay more than $200-250 for it (but that's just me).
I actually find the case more intriguing than the guitar . . . |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I've got one of those purple lined cases that I'll sell for the right price. As for the 1115, I expect the market value is somewhere in between the low end and high end discussed above. |

Most of the people here who had been "looking" for Pacemakers awhile ago, now HAVE them . . .
Y'might have t'wait for a noob who's looking for that particular model (or an inexpensive 12-string in general). |

You know, you might want to put this up on eBay and highlight it's history. Here, nobody's going to really care that it was played by your Bro ... but on eBay, there may be people falling all over themselves to get a figurative piece of him. You've obviously got the bona fides ... you're likely to find someone who will pay over market because of it's history. |
