:D
Lowden
I bought my Martin Norm Blake from this guy. His descriptions are dead on and and he was a pleasure to deal with. |

Stephen, there is a big blue button the middle of the ebay screen. Just go ahead and click on it. Consider it your duty on behalf of all of us.

Does anybody know Mcilroy guitar? I won the bid ebay item # 200147035305 She looks like a Lowden guitar. Sound? Thank you. |

I bought the S23C Lowden and it is so cool that I am not sure my heart could take on another one!
However, it would go nicely with a Martin/Collings/Tak/Original Slothead.
Don't you agree? |

Actually my favorite passtime is to set up a bunch of stands in a semicircle and place guitars on theme and just go from one to the other inhaling the fine smells. Mahogany, cedar, rosewood, spruce, etc. It's all good. "Honk, honk", Oh the wife must have just gotten home from soccer duty in the Rover ...

| Myrtlewood is fantastic. I have a Breedlove Northwest and the sound is...is...it makes your loins quiver. And I suppose if that's what you're after it's a good thing.

And that is not up for discussion. |

I'm not drinking for the three days, to avoid the possibility of an impulse buy... At $3500 (though worth every dime) I can't afford to have my inhibitions lowered. |

I am willing to bet he would go for $3000 and that would be damn near a steal at that price. The Lowden's are really special and sound spectacular. |

| Not to rain on anyone's parade, but for $3000 you can get a hell of a lot of guitar, some better than the Lowden IMHO.
..and hey, I like Lowden guitars. But 3 grand is some serious cash. |

Would I like to pay less for it? Sure. But comparatively, it's worth the asking price.... IMNSHO |

I think ya gotta own a good one to be able to appreciate the incredible built and sound.
Nick, maybe you played some lemons or some of the Avalons (ex Lowden)
If Tuppy grabbed this one, I am afraid some others would go back into the case from lack of use....and then some lucky OFC members would get great deals on some of Dave's guitars. |

| Oh don't get me wrong. I think it's a beautiful guitar and I love the Lowden sound. Richard Thompson is one of my guitar heroes and if it's good enough for him, well who am I to say otherwise. Every Lowden I've played has been an excellent guitar. I wasn't trying to say that this guitar isn't worth it, but you are creeping into pretty rarified air at that dollar amount. To me any guitar is worth what you are willing to pay for it. What I was trying to say is you suddenly have a bunch of options: McIlroy, Collings, Santa Cruz, Dana Bourgeois, Goodall and custom made for instance.
You might try them all and find that Lowden is for you. I think I'd just have a hard time choosing.
Oh to be in that unhappy situation... |

I was very close to jumping on this but he does not take paypal. His loss. No, seriously this is a supeb instrument and worth every nickel he's asking. I would definately have considered it, but I'm working on something else right now that's tying up my funds.

Seems like when I bought my Lowden from him (earlier I had a brain fart and said it was my Norm Blake), I paid him through paypal via a credit card......
yep...just went back to my June cc and found where it says I paid him via paypal....I believe we worked it out over the phone and I picked up the Paypal fees. The guy was a real pleasure to work with and very reasonable when we negotiated the price down from his original asking.
I felt that paying the fees to get the non-existent paypal protection along with my credit card protection was a pretty safe deal. Guitar came in exactly (if not better) than described. |
