Those white pearl top '86 Collectors 12-strings don't seem to pop up very often any more. I think most of them must be in the hands of fond owners.
You might try a Google search, if you haven't already done that. |

There are a few of us that would love to have one of these, myself included. I would prefer the 2986 12-string version. The last really nice one of those I remember seeing was on Ebay a few months ago. It didn't sell the first time around, but the second time I think it went for around $600 (which made me ill).
You might happen upon one for cheap that needs a trip back to the factory for some TLC. Then you'd just about have a new one. Good luck in your search. |

Don't use apostrophes in urls...
...or parenthesis either, for that matter. |

Location: closely held secret | It's not the way you're doing it, Mike, it's the apostrophe. UBB doesn't like em in urls.
That's a GORGEOUS guitar, btw... |

Location: closely held secret | Mike, you're not doing anything wrong. It's the apostrophe in the url.
But you can...

There were a matched pair (a 6 and a 12) of 1986 CEs on Ebay a month or so ago from the same seller. Both were claimed to be very mint, hardly (if ever) played, but expensive. I think each of them was listed with a BIN of $1195 (?) and sold pretty quick. These are rare for sure, especially in such great condition.
I wish Ovation would make a CE like this one and the 1985 again--a 6 and a 12. Even just a 12 would be cool to switch things up for a change.
Best of luck Max. |

Location: tpa fl. | Thank's for the input on the 1986 12 collectors edition. My guitar was a gift from my ex. It is mint as any guitar you find out of the case new. I always check this website to see what is hot and this guitar is. I play my custom elite most of the time or my 1114. But since ovtion was bought by fender I believe the older guitars will gain in value. Anybody have any feed back on this. |

Best of luck Max. Yeap that was way too high. I believe Mike bought it ? They have sold on ebay for $600.00. You can bet your left leg that dealer gave no where near $1200.00 for that guitar. If he can buy one for that. Another chance will come. ;) |

Value is determined by what someone will give for it. So holding on to it might NOT make it more valuable. In fact the opposite might happen. ;)
Especially with gas, food, etc. getting higher. People might be a little more reluctant to fork out a lot of money for a guitar.
And Christmas might have been some reason that guitar brought that kind of money. |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Its called basic economics’ 101: supply vs. demand: much depends on the buyer: are they looking for a cheap bargain or are they a collector looking for the best they can buy? Yes, it's true there are only 392 of the 12's added onto the 1858 6 strings made that year...it's the lowest of all the 12 string collector totals (85 was the other with 715 total 12's)...
In MINT condition w/coa and all hang tags, its worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay: and there and how many Mint ones still around? I happen to have one that is DEAD MINT and it looks like it came out of the factory yesterday!
The one that sold for $600 was a fluke (and a bargain for the buyer) and I doubt you'd ever see a mint condition one again for anywhere near that price!
BTW, I just sold the guitar for 1250 + shipping: and the buyer is someone that already has a 6 string 86 collector: and was looking for 3 years to find the matching 12...He bought the best available and is happy to have it (and just wait till he gets it in his hands and plays it and eyeballs it in person! Sorry Max but I just don't approach buying guitars the way you do...I've bought plenty of "bargains" and very few actually were! This guitar came from the original owner who bought the pair, put them away and sold them at the Great American Guitar Show this year to the fellow I bought it from: now the 12 is going to a fellow OFC'er for the same money I had in it: I am not making money on this...I believe it could have sold on EBay for $1500 w/no problem...it is that mint and rare! |
