fOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE AND FOR ONE LUCKY SOUL, AN INCREDIBLE AX.
FIRST AND FOREMOST: IT PLAYS BETTER (YES BETTER), THEN IT LOOKS. NECK PICKUP IS WARM AND FULL, BRIDGE PICKUP IS CRISP, QUACKY AND HOT. ADD A NOTCH FILTER AND ACTIVE ELECTRONICS, AND SHRED AWAY.
WELL, DON'T FEEL BAD IF BLUES OR ROCK IS YOUR BAG, THE OLD MAHOGANY WOOD OOZES TONE. 2 PIECE BODY AND 2 PIECE NECK. FLAME MAPLE FRETBOARD WITH GLOSS FINISH ON IT. (frets are like brand new)oRIGINAL CASE INCLUDED (MINT). abalone inlays , great shape neck.NOT SURE WHAT ELSE.
i WOULD PUT THIS AX UP AGAINST GUITARS COSTING TWICE AS MUCH. BETWEEN THE DECADES OLD WOOD, THE CUSTOM ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND THE GREAT BALANCE OF THE DESIGN- MAKES THIS GUITAR JUST PURR.. MINT TO NEAR MINT SHAPE, i CAN NOT FIND A THING WRONG WITH IT.
Did I say it looks better in person too????

PAYPAL, US postal MONEY ORDER OK..SHIPPING IS $50 CONUSA, $125 FOR OVERSEAS. ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS, i WILL TRY MY BEST TO KEEP CHECKING IN HERE. price after pictures :D ;)
the good stuff

$1320 for ofc members only...cheap---no sir-but what would it cost to put this ax together today. and did I say someone famous once owned it???

I'm done for a week or two... plus the wife doesn't want any more electrics in the house..she's still grumbling about the 100 watt 4x10 tube amp(but I can't hear her.. or much else besides it when I'm playing through it)

but it is a beauty..

good luck with the sale.. that fretboard figuring is awesome.... is that a MWoody pickguard? or did Ovation do that?

who was the artist that once owned it?

Glenn

Holy crap. That's GORGEOUS. If you check out my website and look at the Guitars page, you'll notice that one of my main electrics is a Klein.

Soooo tempted...

Oh, y'mean the guy who blatantly STOLE the design from the Deacon (and vehemently denies it)?

Morning, morning,

First Although I am not dyslexic I really meant to write;

For sale $1230......But $1320 is ok, really.

Messina, well close, I meant Miles. But Jim Messina did own this originally I suppose.
It almost plays by itself. Very smooth, balanced feel about it. It is unlike any other deacon I have played (ok that's only been three-but it sounded impressive for a moment).
No, really it has a great warm full neck pickup tone, and a hot kind of quacky bridge pu thing happening. Both pu's together and it's a like gibson, met fender met ovation at the crossroads and this is what came out. (You do realize I am hyperbolizing here).
The notch filter gives the choice of another two tones, slightly warmer, brighter mids and flat eq.
The neck is same shape as other deacons, but it feels perfect to hold, maybe the flamed maple fretboard adds some feel and /or weight when holding it, not sure. Neck just feels big, but really is not.
In person, you could just stare at the darn thing.

Stephen, I am around.....Plus I want to go to guitar X soon. Any interest??

peace out

That is lovely. My theory is that the Walnut on the Pickguard is the same batch as that used on Jim Rickard's Deacon (Captain's) and it was the pictures of those two out of Mile's and Samova's collections that got me gassing out for the solid bodies and eventually learning how to make wood veneered pickguards.

Fugot, is there anything I have (non-organic) that you would trade for?

"Oh, y'mean the guy who blatantly STOLE the design from the Deacon (and vehemently denies it)?"

Not worth an argument, but the Klein is headless with a trem bridge, and its lower bout is not cut in the same direction as the Breadwinner/Deacon. It sits on your leg and balances with the neck up in playing position even with hands off. It's got a solid rosewood neck with no truss rod. Most of 'em are chambered.

Similarity is only superficial.

As does the Deacon/Breadwinner.

Actually it's the differences that are superficial, the similarities are blatant. The shape of both the Deacon and the Klein are designed for comfort and balance, except that Ovation did it some 20-odd years before Steve Klein. Noone would deny that the Klein is a fine instrument, he should just have the decency to credit the source of it's inspiration.

Truly, nobody will ever know. But don't be so quick to judge until you've actually played a Klein. Again, not gonna argue - but Klein owners are a passionate and "converted" breed too!

Couple of interesting articles:

How the Klein was developed

Letter from the Breadwinner designer

Plus, something maybe some of you don\'t know about ...!

It was Northcountry who bought the Rickard Deacon from Sam (far left). I bought the tuxedo NOS gloss black deluxe (4th from left).

Roger, we have seen the Shamray before, and apart from the headstock, it's a sweet looking axe. Enjoyed your videos. You've got an awesome collection.

Captain, thanks. The Deacon is wicked looking too and I would buy it if I didn't already have a Klein AND my custom Forshage. Both of those fully satisfy my ergonomic electric guitar "needs."

I'd love to have an acoustic with an ergo shape. Prolly never happen though. But right now I'm digging my new Ovation acoustics a lot, so I am very much a FAN and hopefully I'm welcome here even with my Klein on the stand over there... :)

Oh, as in make one?

Quite possible. I'll have to call a meeting of the BFLG and take some inventory though!

How about a Koa body, deacon 12 string neck with VXT electronics?

Mike, I will try to give you a call today (Sunday).

Cliff is also gonna be in town around the 18th-20th so we gotta try and put something together.

Also, I am always up for a trip to the magic land of GuitarX.....I assume he is now operating out of his house and the internet so should be a fun trip. Let's plan it!

I just looked at the Shamray Guitars "Breadwinner" tribute and it's pretty nice except that headstock looks like a doggy bone to me, and of course doesn't match the body curve, so to me, looks out of place.

Overall, looks like a nice take.
