OK, I've had some time to reacquaint myself with the Magnum 1. It's indeed a beautiful bass, and I enjoy playing it. The only thing that annoys me is the string mute lever, which gets in the way of my picking hand. I guess the mechanism could be removed, but I'd rather have the plain Magnum 3 or 4 bridge, which apparently would be a straight fit. If anybody has one of those for sale, please email me at the address below.

I'm also still looking for an original pickguard. Mine has been "half-replaced" - the portion under the controls must have cracked (this seems to be common on Magnums, especially if you're using a straight plug). Miles had the appropriate pg available on eBay once, but it disappeared before I was able to act. Again, if you have one, please notify me.

Thanks,

Mats

The bridges are the same, the 3 and 4 have the mute mechanism removed and an insert installed instead. Maybe Ovation still has some of the inserts?

Thanks for the info. I'll try emailing Ovation about the bridge.

Been looking at that pickguard on eBay, but since it's PayPal only and no shipping outside the US, no chance there. I'll keep searching.
