It is getting posted to the UK, I will let you know the condition of it when it arrives. Though the chap emailed me and confirmed it was in almost mint condition and he seems to sell a few guitars with good feedback (over 1000).
It is costing me $125.00 to post to the UK , though with that in mind , it is very hard to find a 1990 Legend over here in possibly that condition. I have played this model from around 1990 (a friends) and know what to expect from this guitar :-)
I have one other Ovation which I tried to mend a while back, though it has seen better days.
I must say thanks Steve as It was your post that directed me to the ebay auction. I joined this forum a few years back and only popped in last week as I was looking for a new guitar to pass away the cold dark nights in scotland during the winter months :-)

You're quite welcome. That was definitely a quality purchase considering the market in the UK. There was a nice 1862 Balladeer that went for less than that yesterday. These are high quality instruments for the prices.

Location: paris , france | Hi, Steph,very nice guitar , I was looking at this myself but the fact they did'nt show international shipping put me off...sometimes your treated like a lepper even if you mention exporting to europe so now dont bother....how long do you think it will take to arrive? hoping that the Royal mail has gone back to work....

OK I got the guitar, within 10 days, I openned the well packed box and scattered a few thousand of those packaging things over my floor, what a mess.
Anywaz got around to opening the case, and honsetly it is like this guitar has been kept in its case since 1990 ... no fret ware, no scratches whatsoever..
I am pleased.
However, I have noticed that because this guitar has probably been in its case stashed away somewhere for this length of time, there is a small "twist" in the soundboard just around the bottom e area (top of guitar when looking down) there is no cracks just a "twist" like warp.
Now I do not for one minute expect this guitar to be perfect for its age (although apart from that it is perfect) I do know this is common on Ovations with the soundboard moving differntly from the bowl in diff conditions.
Is there anyway to prevent future damage or "twisting" Like I say there is no crack and this guitar sounds great.

You say keep the humidity around 50%, that prob be ok in my house, does that mean to say that, once the humidity rises,the more the warp ... then cracks?
If so is there anyway od reducing the warp that is all ready there? I read about clamps and also reducing the current dampness in the soundboard.
I have posted a message to a Luthier, just out of curiosty, I would like to keep this thing from ever cracking ;-)

Location: Boise, Idaho | I've never had a guitar crack, although I have a few that I bought with cracks. We usually get a thread on the humidity paranoia about this time each year. I think the consensus is to avoid temperature and humidity swings. Don't let it get too dry when the winter heat comes on. In the UK, you probably have more than enough humidity. |
