Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | that stoopid stencil on them gee, besides being made in 1976 (The US Bicentenial) maybe that's why they're called "Patriot"...ya think? This is a way cool guitar...but just too much money...no COA? |

Location: SoCal | I have two, one a/e and one acoustic.
Only 10% of the run were a/e, not often seen on eBay.
Amazing that of the two in my living room, the Patriot is the one that draws the most attention...the a/e that I got from Paul B. and lovingly restored by the factory. The other guitar has a lot of "bling".
It is basically a deep bowl Custom Legend and is both stunning and has a wonderful "voice". From everything I have read, the "collectibility" of this model is what interested Ovation into creating the Collectors' series.
Maybe some don't like the decal but a lot do...on a dark nutmeg finish, exquisite. |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | I love mine, especially the stencil! It's just different enough to make it stand out without being garish. And the dark finish reminds me of really well-made, antique American furniture. That's just the visual, you only think you admire it until you hear its voice!
Like many on this board, I suffer from a seemingly chronic case of buy/sell fever. But my Patriot ain't going nowhere! (Neither is my Custom Balladeer 12-string; we've been through too much together.)
Still, that poster seems deleriously optimistic! Our compadre, Mauvais Beal, gave me a much better deal on #76. (Thanks again kind Sir!) I'll be telling my maker one day that this guitar was one of the best ones Ovation ever made. |

I wonder who owns #1776. |

Location: Castro Valley, CA | What do you guys think this should go for? I'm new to the Ovation's so I don't know. I just dipped my toe in and bought a 1751 12 string, in great condition. I think I'm hooked now! I see a six string in my future. |

However...
6/04 my a/e # 320 was $680 after a trip to the factory and charged far less than what was done. However, this was a steal.
I adopted # 880 from a poster on this board for $720. He wanted over $1,100 about 18-24 months ago.
Personally, a 31 year old guitar in very good condition, AAA spruce, and A brace should go for a minimum of $1,000. With or without COA. Who cares, it is obvious it was one of the 1-year run. |
