Location: Warren,Pa. | Had to sort-of cannabalize my 6778LX temporarily. A friend's Taylor needed some help and, since he only has 1 guitar and I have 5, I did this for him.
Here's what I need:
-6 gold screws to hold tuner buttons on;
-6 washers that go between the tuner button and the post;
-1 of the white nylon rings that go between the washer and the tuner body.
I know it's unlikely I'll get a response but I thought I'd give it a try.
BTW...Taylor 814 w/black tuner buttons. The buttons are plastic like the originals on our '97 Collectors. I watched as he was tuning in the middle of the Worship set and he felt the button breaking in his hand. I immediately knew what the problem was, having had that same pained look on my face when it happened to me. He thought Ovations were inferior; now he's not so sure!

Wouldn't the obvious thing be to give him one of your guitars so he could get rid of the damn Taylor? Just throw it in the collection plate broken tuner and all. Here you go jesus, they say you can heal stuff? Well good luck with this piece of crap.

Location: Warren,Pa. | It's been an interesting history: he's the senior pastor, I'm one of the asst. pastors. I'm also sort-of the guitar tech for this church of 700. I've done my fair share of fiddling around with his Taylors over the years. When something goes awry with his guitar he reacts like I do when one of my small-engine yard tools acts up...get mad and bring it to the shop. I had fun explaining to him the economics of guitar manufacturing...like specing gold Pings w/plastic tuners on a $3,000 guitar to save money. He still loves his guitar, and it IS a nice one. As I plant seeds of doubt as to the absolute infallibility of Taylors he doesn't have the low opinion of my Ovations that he used to have. That's all I'm after. |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Actually it was the Right thing to do...it is better to give than to receive...wow, what a concept! If we'd just get "self" out of the way!
BTW, my Taylors have Grover or Schaller tuners: My W-65-12 has real Ebony buttons on the Schallers: they all came that way...the upper models have better wood; hardware; and sound...interesting that even the budget Ovation's (not clebs or apple's) have quality hardware... |
