OVATION 1987 COLLECTORS EDITION
I bought this guitar about 2 years ago with a lacquer crack. Sent it to the factory for a refinish and of couse they did their usual amazing job. The darker line of the old crack is visible under the finish but everything is smoothed and buffed to perfection. The guitar plays and sounds like a dream and includes the hardshelll case.
Price: $1000. plus shipping
I'm willing to take partial payments. Email or PM me if interested or if you need more information

| great deal Dave!
I hope the Nakao Elite looks as good when they're through with it. Maybe I should look into a carved bridge replacement while it's there.

I HONESTLY can't believe no one has snatched this one up. Everyone must be out doing honey-do's and haven't logged on for their daily fix of O's.
An '87 collectors minty fresh from the factory would be a deal at $1500. |

Location: Wooster, Ohio | I bought my 87 about two years ago. No question the best sounding wooden Ovation I have played with the exception maybe of a 1537. If you put looks and sound together, I don't think it can be beat. I started recording on a project on apple's garageband. Got the 87 out again and it I think sounded the best of all the guitars I used.

Location: Phoenix AZ | I bought it and never really looked at it. It went straight to the factory for the refinish. Maybe they put new epaulets on it. Looking at it, I sort of like the ebony trim. Maybe I need to raise the price. I particularly like the wood grain on the headstock facing of this one. Hmmm, so I really want to sell it ???

This ebony epaulet thing has me stumped. I never noticed that it was any different than all the rest. I must admit, I'm really liking the look.

doubt if it was end of the production run - wasn't the last five or so made with the bearclaw?
seem unusual that a mid-production run would have been custom. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | This is serial 500 something of 1000, so should have been mid run. My guess is that this past summer when I had the factory seal the crack and refinish the top that they put new epaulets on it and didn't charge me extra for the custom ebony :)
Speaking of math. I paid $950 for the guitar and then another $300. for the refinish at the factory. So you add it up. Somebody's getting a good deal.

None on Mine either: But on a -5, they'd look out of place I think.
BTW, I played this at the tour in the Hotel lobby for a while and its a great guitar; better snap it up before Tuppy changes his mind! |

Do you play this plugged in?
What amp do you find sounds best?
I understand how it sounds is subjective, but I would like to know what you think.
Thanks |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I've never played it through an amp. I will on occasion plug into my mixer and do some recording, but usually a blend of plugged in and a direct mic out front.
I think Moody plays his out pretty frequently at church and other places so maybe he can comment.

Location: Colorado | I would have thrown my name in there, but only if an even trade for my Adamas would have been acceptable. I nearly PMd Dave twice, but couldn't do it. I would rather buy another guitar and have two than trade one for another, but I just can't afford to buy another one now. And from the sounds of it this was a "sale only" deal, probably thinning the herd to make room for that new Taylor 710-L9...
I'm glad it's staying in the family though. |

The guitar arrived on Saturday. It was taking a bit longer that Fed Ex said it would. I started to worry that the driver might have overturned driving on all those ice covered roads in Oklahoma and Kansas. It arrived in perfect shape. My wife were amazed at the sound. I didn't expect how bright and boomie it sounds.
Thank you
