The USA made serial numbers are datable by serial number but the Celebrity series are a mystery.
Re-sale value is something to look up locally on Ebay or Craigslist and get a feel for what the going price is. Don't expect to make a bundle since they are plentiful and last forever.
Enjoy it and play it! Try this link.

I've seen alot of Celebrity's with weird numbers...
Alot of times the difference is only the pre-amp, place of manufacture or something.
The difference between a CS257 and a CC48 comes to mind...
Welcome and Good Luck |

this is the most look alike i can find on the internet,
though the body on my ovation is more light, looks like spruce, and the fretboard has those diamond shaped inlays |

Location: Seoul, Korea | Tjenare Tomas: The offshore Ovations are made in Korea for many years. I think most of the Celebrity models are made there, if not all. A new CS165 or something similar to that model you can buy for US$4-500 in Seoul, Korea. Several years ago I had bought an Ovation Celebrity version of classic nylon-stringed guitar for around US$300. Since I play without plugging in the sound seemed very, very thin. Only after I had bought the U.S. made Ovation, did I realize why you pay more for Made in USA. It is worth it, especially if you buy a guitar that is used.
God Jul!

Location: Upper Left USA | At the high end - I Custom ordered an Elite LX Contour bowl 12 string that - IMHO - is as good as a Wood top 12 can get. For a different flavor the Adamas 12's are incredible.
It has been a while but a friend of mine still plays his Applause 12 string that is a fine instrument and great sounding. So about every three years or so we meet and I change his strings... |
