Well, I’ve been debating this for about a month, and Christmas bills have forced my hand! I’m looking to sell my pristine 2002 Collector’s Edition.

There’s not a thing wrong with this instrument. It is absolutely stunning in appearance and sound! Beautiful, flawless Figured African Cherry for the top…mid-depth body…tasteful, understated ebony fret-board with mother-of-pearl inlay on the 12th fret…Gold Ovation tuners…the nut is 1 11/16”…and the neck plays faster than most electrics…fantastic sounding Ovation Tru-Balance pickup and OP-40 Pre-amp with built-in tuner.

The only unusual thing about it is the case; I bought it used and this is the case that came with it. But it's still a hardshell case that is holding up just fine.

I'll ship it in the continental US for $850.

Let me know what you think.

Maybe you're not the only one with Christmas bills.

This reminds me of my guitar life last year at this time.

I put in the first bid on a 1581 on ebay...$1,250. I just wanted to get the bidding going. I wound up getting it (much to my wife's chagrin). Nobody else went for it because it was right after Christmas.

Be patient.

John: You could have retracted your offer without being penalized, i.e. getting a negative feedback. I had to do it once because I had one zero too many on the bid.

I suspect John wasn't so chagrined. I have several that were "Oh, shucks, Dear, I just threw in a bid to get it started and ended up with another guitar." She just tells me to stop doing that.

Nice looking guitar.
Just cause nobody's jumping at it doesn't mean it's not nice.

there was an unplayed 02 that went for over $1,000 right before Christmas. I think it's just timing.

And thank you Patch.

A very pleasant buying experience it was too.

Of course I aint actually seen it in the flesh yet. It could turn out the photos were niftily photoshopped and its actually two different sized planks of wood nailed together and lashed over with an old tarbrush, but I have to admit to sensing a good bit of trust in the seller. In fact everyone on here seems dead friendly & genuine.

Now the hard part. Tell the missus.

Well, Ive had a couple of days getting to know this little beauty and she is indeed a great guitar. Not tried it plugged in yet, but she sounds lovely au natural. The intonation is spot on all the way up to the top and the action is slicker than a slick thing.

As is usually the case, the pictures dont do it any justice whatsoever. When the sun hits the top the rippling is lustrous and simply gorgeous, not that theres too much sun about here in the UK at the moment :-(

The neck shape is definately where I want to be at the moment. Ive spent many years with a lovely Lowden 023, but compared to the 2002, the neck is torture. The lowden is a better fingerpicker and full open sounding guitar, but playing it for an hour solid is hard work.

Even the missus is impressed. Result!

Anyways up, a big thanks to Patch for his excellent communications. It was a pleasure doing business with you my friend.

Thanks OFC.

Glad to hear hear it! I was just wondering today if you had received it yet. I'm pleased you're happy with it. I plan on having another one some day.

My email host tanked a week ago and the techs can't seem to straighten it out. It's driving me crazy. As soon as I know my domain is secure, I'm transferring it to another host. Definitely been a pain. I have no idea who's been trying to contact me and no way to let them know what the problem is unless they call me or something.
