Location: Parrish, FL | I've decided to sell my Adamas U681T-5 and Ovation 1537 in order to raise funds for something else.
I've had the UTE for a bit less than 2 years. Purchased from Al. Very light play, like new, not a mark on it. $1550.00 with case
The 1537 is spectacular! One very small chip (pencil tip) on the edge of the lower binding. Some pick haze. You won't find a better example unless it just came back from the Mothership after a refinish. No issues what so ever. VERY NICE. $1000.00 with case.
These are two of the most revered models of the OFC. You all know what these guitars look like. I'll send pics of any angle you want upon request. There will be no regrets with either of these guitars.

The 1537 in my gallery pics is NOT the same as the one I have now. This one is BETTER!
I'm hoping that my timing is right to hook up with the tax return season. I'm not in a hurry, but would like to close out by the first of April.

I installed a few pickups for him and setup his guitars when he was just getting started as a full time musician. I kid you not in 2007 he bought/traded between 30 to 40 guitars. Most of them were used and under $1000.00 but still a lot of trading. Maybe the only person that trades as much or more than you. I`ve got to get him into Ovations. |

I found ebay and accidentally bought a Celebrity Deluxe. Then I found this site, traded the CD for the 99, bought, bought, bought etc. The only guitars I've sold since have been guitars I specifically bought for other people and my 12 string Applause that I sold when I bought the Balladeer 12. I don't buy much that I don't keep. I have a tough time letting go. On the other hand, the only old thing my wife hasn't gotten rid of is me, and I keep expecting her to get a replacement for me soon. |

Have used a nylon Chet Atkins Gibson when I needed that sound ...Beal convinced me to widen my horizons a little...I did - but #43 still gets played the most...just not often enough. I collect more dust than guitars...Weird - same thing with one of my cars '74 Vert Karmann Ghia..haven't let her go either. |

Come on guys. Help a guy with GAS and no job and son going off to college next fall out here!
These are really great guitars and I wouldn't be selling them if I didn't have too. Rule here is that I've spent my allowable guitar budget so anything new will have to be at the expense of what I already have.
Let's be reasonable and we can work a deal.

Okay, we've gotten lots of new members recently. Let me just say for their benefit that these guitars (the UTE and the 1537) are without a doubt among the very best to come out of New Hartford. I've played Beggin's UTE on 2 occasions now, and now own a 1537 (courtesy of EdensHarvest). I've gone through 5 Ovations in the last year and a half, in addition to the ones I now have, and I can say with certainty that the 1537 will never leave. If I wasn't buying it's cutaway blingy cousin (the 87C) from Stephen, the UTE would be next on my list.
If any of you newer members want a truly remarkable guitar for a damn good price, contact Brad about these. You won't regret either of these guitars, and you're much better off dealing with an OFCer than you are with a complete stranger on eBay or craigslist.

It was tough to think of paying 4 figures for used guitars, especially after owning the bottom of the Ovation USA line for 30 years, but I have no regrets. The only downside is whether I am good enough for the guitars, which is a concern that gives me some motivation to remedy. These are 2 guitars that any player should be proud to own. |

I can't remember the last time I saw a UTE there and it's been awhile since I saw a 1537. Really a shame that an OFC member doesn't jump on either of these, especially at those prices.
I already have a UTE and would have jumped on tha 1537 if not for a recent Adamas acquisition. |

| Otto - no need to do a search. The 1537 is overwhelming. Take my word for it. I spent several days this past week playing a lot of different and very expensive guitars in a bunch of music stores. The 1537 easily beats out a $3K Martin HD-28, a $4K Taylor, and a $3K Larrivee, IMO. Go for it. They're rare, and usually much more expensive, when you can find them, than what Blues is wanting for this one. The best wood-top Ovation ever made. |

Otto, it's simple. If you're after a prime example of Ovation quality, craftsmanship and superior tone and playability, you're looking at a picture of it above. Easily one of the best, if not the best wood top A/E Ovation has produced.
I doubt you will find anyone who knows Ovations that will tell you otherwise.
If I didn't already have my 87 collectors (basically a cutaway version of the 1537) I would have already bought this one. If I had the cash available right now I would have been sorely tempted to buy it anyway. |

From everything you all have told me and everything I've read, here and elsewhere, the 1537 has got to be the ultimate Elite. If I want an Elite they don't get any better than this. And, (God help me) I trust you whackos. This is way more guitar than I thought I was looking for but I also think it may be time to pull the trigger.
Blues, I e-mailed last night with my phone numbers. Did you receive it? If not, try me back and leave your number. I could hit the road tomorrow.

Then there's the nylon strings. Then around back to the traditional centerhole Ovation sound. Maybe something with some more bling and a cutaway. But the 1537 is a great way to get hooked.

A sweet 1537 that I have owned for 12 years now (before they were famous) and an Adamas 2080. Just to remind myself of what I got, I have set up a time to go play some Taylors and Martins and am taking the O&A with me for comparisons.
Last time I did this I was shopping in the $2500 plus department at GC in Clackamas. After the wife and I listened to all the guitars we played, then compared to the 1537, she asked...."tell me again why you want one of these guitars?" to which I had no answer and we walked out.
Of course this is the same lovely bride who wanted me to take the 1537 back when I first bought it as "it's defective, does it have termites, did someone shoot it with a shotgun" and other such indications that she was initially uncomfortable with the multiple sound holes. |

They are small gauge poly tubes about 1 inch long that you insert as "feeders" in the pinless bridge during stringing so that the rough windings of the strings do not rub against the wood of the bridge and 1) mark the wood, 2) clog the string winding with micro saw dust. You feed the string through them and then remove them before winding onto the tuner posts. They were invented by a member here (Standingovation) and he sells them direct. There have been quite a few threads on this board about them.

Location: Simpsonville, SC | 2Iffy, TJ has already owned at least two of every model and, of course, sold them. This is because, every now and again, he regrets sellin tha first one and buys another to see if he made tha right decision.
It's a loooooooooooong......long search for tha perfect one, for him. I'm pullin for him to find "THE ONE" or three someday. In tha meantime, we all get great opportunities to purchase his last "THE ONE".
May tha Trader live long and uuuuhhhh..................prosper?! :p :p :p |

I know, I know!
We 'sharked'* each other on the '97 Collector. It was truly a pleasant experience.
I'm just waiting for his 'new' 1598 ME to 'pop up' shortly.
* If TJ agrees, I'll post his email to me on the 'sharked' '97. Even better yet, I'll let him describe what he thinks of the predators on the OFC. Ooops... |

Put your bid in, NOW, for the ME 1598 if ya want it!
BTW: it feels soooooo gooood to be pickin on 'ol TJ again.....almost as fun as recievin' one of his......uuuuhhhh.....keepers! :D |

Location: South of most, North of few | Wow, I was begining to feel left out. There wasn't a post about my, uh..., shall we say "inability to keep a nice guitar in my hot little hands", for at least 12 hours. Thanks guys, I'm a little choked up right now. I feel the love.
Now, for my next act, I think the Blueberry "Bat" (man) guitar will be the next one up FS. Anybody interested, PM me. Now on to our regularly scheduled TJ roasting..... :p |
