Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming | I picked up a beautiful Adamas W591 really cheap. The former owner, for some reason, pulled out the electronics so I want to replace them. But this question concerns the pickup. Although the preamp is gone, there is a working pickup installed and I want to know if it is the original. The saddle is just a regular one and when I put new strings on and pulled it out there was no pickup. There is a hole drilled through into the body, but I thought that maybe they are predrilled. I reached through the soundhole and there seems to be some kind of soundboard pickup installed. Could this be the original or not? I can't find anything on the Ovation site that talks abouth their pickup configurations.

However, the saddle and the pickup are, for all intents and purposes, a single unit. When you pulled the saddle out you probably had the pickup in your hand as well...
unless... it is not the original saddle.
There should be a wire from the pup down through that hole to the preamp, but it sounds like the wiring was removed along with the preamp (to prevent unwanted vibrations is my guess)
Easiest way to solve this- is to post a picture of the saddle
