They are not getting any cheaper and it's not quite original.

"the guitar is in fairly good condition. one of the valume nobs dosent work very well but should be easy to fix. there is a chip on the head stock, and someone replaced the bridge pickup. over all it's a beautiful guitar"

So... Y'all want $3000 for a guitar in so-so condition, that the volume don't work and the pick-up ain't original?

Now that's my problem, when I list stuff I just don't have enough faith in the gullibility of the masses. Now watch someone will buy that,
I always give them a fair BIN...
(now some dude is trying to sell my Beat-Up $100 Balladeer as Pristine Condition with no cracks, when I know I put a halr-tube of Elmer's glue into it)

Excuse me... I just went off on a rant that really had nothing to do with the Red GP
Now back to the thread...

Now, forgive me for saying this. I know it's an Ovation and all, but why did someone pay that much for that guitar? You could buy a VERY nice NEW guitar for less and not have to deal with the issues this one has. I mean, what's the mystique? So they only made 400 of them, they only made 100 UTE's and there are several members trying to sell them cheap and can't get them to move.

Like the saying goes, it's not what YOU think it's worth that matters. It's what the one BUYING it thinks it's worth that counts.

If some semi-famous metal head had toured for a few years playing a U681, I imagine those would be going for crazy money as well. There's no accounting for what people are willing to throw their money it. I know of what I speak.

If some metalhead plays a guitar it might diminish it's value to me, but apparently it increases the value for some. The only way I ever would have heard of Queens of the Stone Age was because what's his name used GPs. Still haven't heard any of their music, but that's fine with me, too.
Unfortunately, it might make these available only to collectors and those that acquired them at reasonable prices might feel compelled to sell them rather than use them. I'd prefer something I could use.
