Location: Phoenix AZ | I don't understand how it's at $1600. The first bidder put in a max of $1000. How can the second (and only other) bidder have jacked it to $1600? Even if the second bidder put in $1600 as his maximum, wouldn't the high bid currently only be at listed as $1005. ??? |

I don't know... |

or something like that. |

I'm sure it wasn't yellow when they put it on, but they shoulda known it was gonna turn that way...
Isn't carbon-fiber bulletproof? |

Correct. The reserve was $1,600 and the second bidder put in at least that much for his high bid, so it automatically went to the reserve amount. If the second bidder's high bid was less than the reserve, then it would only be showing $1,005. |

Location: big island | confession time: i was the second bidder on this guitar. i have requested the seller to cancel my bid because my wife really needs a new computer for her business and we cannot afford both items at this time. not only that...but i was overcome with guilt as i did not first inquire with her about bidding on this one. the seller is a gentleman. i hope someone here will buy and enjoy it. |

| So now the bid is 'one cent'... why do people do that? Sheer boredom?... That couldn't be any kind of rational strategy on a $2000 guitar?... |

Do sellers set reserve at the "buy it now" price?
I'm not an experienced ebayer.

| $2000 is an excellent value. That's just $824 in 1981 dollars...and they cost substantially more than that back then. |

| I think we tend to forget how cheap the dollar is today. I found a website that compares the value of the dollar today to any previous year. A new Adamas I in 1981 was expensive. You sure couldn't buy one for 800 bucks. I got my '92 1767 on ebay a few years ago for $600. That's a little over 300 dollars in 1992. You couldn't buy a new 1992 USA Legend and factory case for that.
Someone just won a 1547 Elite for a little over $600. That's ridiculously cheap for a rare guitar, even with a few finish cracks. |
