OK, so here goes. In my infinite wisdom, I have decided to part with a couple of very nice Ovations. The first one is a rare find in this kind of shape, which is pristine, with original hard case in the same shape. 97 collectors parlor size guitar, 1 11/16 neck (I can hear Bill now).

This one had the battery box relocated by the factory to the outside "barndoor" type so you don't have to loosen the strings to change the battery. Original TS (touch sensitive) volume system that works flawlessly. Anyone who has played one of these will tell you how great, and loud, they sound for such a petite bundle.

Up next is from what I understand, is a rather rare find also with only between 50 and 100 made. (correct me if I'm wrong on this, I am going by what I've been told). Country Artist model 1674. I swear this one has a three piece top as you can see three distinct pieces in the construction.

Great sounding nylon string instrument. Full sound unplugged, and plugged in, well, you will just have to hear it. Stacked tone and volume preamp, 1 7/8 nut (manly :D ) Has one small mark on the back of the neck, other than that, in 9.8 condition.

I would like to get $800.00 for the 97, and $650.00 for the 1674. Both with their respctive hard cases. Prices plus shipping. Any questions, or if you want certain photos (of the guitars...) let me know.

I got the chance to play the '97 at the g8r Bowl in January and was amazed by it's sound. It is also a beautiful guitar.

Someone needs to get one or both of these!

AAAGGGHHH! JIM! Why'd you have to do this now? :p I've been lurking for a wide-neck '97 for a couple of years, but I've got my eye on 3 others I've been lurking for on eBay, and I've got to get some money back from that damaged CL I just got.

I can't ignore this, but I've got to figure out the financial logistics...if I can.

Lord help me, my wife might kill me...PM sent.

Patch, easy...this is a narrow neck. 1 11/16" not 1 3/4"

Jim,

If I didn't already have one of each,(except my Country Artist is not a cutaway), I would be sending a message. The 97 Collectors is a neat guitar. I use silk & steel on it. A nice couch guitar unplugged and plugged in,(It's an Ovation need I say more?).

Patch the wide necks don't come up that often.

Like I just told Jim, I've been working so hard I think I squeezed my mathematical ability out my ears. I somehow convinced myself that 3/4" is equivalent to 9/16".

You know...they LIE when they talk about passing 40. (I turned 43 yesterday.) You don't go over the hill...you step off a freakin' cliff! (Can't even do simple math in my head anymore...mumble...mutter...growl.) :p

Patch , Wait 'til ya get to 50, then 60. It's not the fall, it's that landing (re. reality) that hurts!

Actually I can still do the math. It's that damn slow crawl back uphill, one pull up and two slides down, that eats my azz!

BTW, belated ! Rock on...

I agree, just a couple of years away from the 60 mark myself. BTW, the 1674 is sold and will be on it's way to California soon. Thanks George! :D

And, Happy Birthday Patch!!

I can still remember 43. I was in great shape then. Could run forever, climb 12 flights of stairs without breathing hard and crank out 40 pushups in 30 seconds.
A couple weeks ago I tried to do 30 pushups and screwed up my shoulder. I don't think I've landed at the bottom by any means, either. 55 next month.

I turn 55 this year and still play 3 hours of basketball every Friday with a bunch of 20-35 year olds (+ one other geezer my age). I can still hold my own pretty well but the next day I can hardly crawl out of bed I am so sore.....but I keep coming back cause I love it so much.

Sorry Jim, I didn't mean to swipe your thread. Good luck with the '97. Better yet, keep it. Besides being unique, they're great guitars.

Johnny,

If you want a nifty, but different Ovation to fill that "whatcha selling?" slot. I'm tellin' ya right now, buy this '97. It's one of my favorites out of every guitar I've ever owned, and it's different enough that it'll probably stay that way.

Patch,

That's good enough for me to continue my currently on-going comms with TJ. My GAS has recently went to a higher octane. But it's all for the Grandbabies (that's what I tell my bride!).

I'm just glad that it wasn't a 'wide'! Otherwise

TJ,

You must of been dizzy when ya let me grab the '97 Collector today!

She reminds of that thread where I posted the Rachael Welch pic, beautiful maturity! Ergo, the '97 is now 'Rachael!

Ladies and gents, this git is AWESOME! I can't believe someone else didn't jump. Glad ya didn't!

It was a true pleasure to bicker with and meet you! It's nice to meet the faces behind stellar collections.

Now it's time for me to sit on the sidelines and re-evaluate which of mine have to go to enable me to re-enter the 'game'.

Thanx to all of you that answered my questions and made recommendations; and especially to TJ!

Well, the 8 you keep certainly outprice my little stash. Although, the most I've had my hands on at one time is 17, though that was just for a brief time.

Enjoy the '97 Johnny...I had one pass through my hands, and it was one of the hardest to let go of.

eh et al,

'Rachael' will be one of the last that I'd let go. She's been in my lap or by my side since I got home, except for supper.

The neck and string spacing is perfect for my small hands. I see her as being my 'steady gal'!

Not being an expert, I perceive her projection is not that of her larger siblings, understandably. But I can't believe the low/mid/hi balance!

I haven't plug her in yet in that I'm having a ball acoustically. (Ummm, Freud and Dr. Laura would have fun with that sentence!).

BTW, the case itself is a work of art!

Ummm, excuse me, Rachael's calling...
