cwk2 signed the tag inside, called ovation and they had little knowledge on it. Said it was a rep or in factory model. They didnt sell these. Anybody know the true value of it.

Doesn't Wong have one of these also? Very nice guitar. I'm assuming that Nick M. made a few of these in Mooseup. 5-10? I don't know and really wouldn't have any idea.

Not certain I'd know how to put a price on it, but
Al might know. I'd guess that you'd have to talk to him off the board. He doesn't tend to talk money on the board.....

Value; $5000-10,000 somewhere in there
Slotheads are in the same ball park and there are 34 of them
guitars like this I doubt there were more than 10 made.
The signature devalues it by at least a grand....

Well thanks for the info. The guitar is deep and wide. It has the most amazing tone like no other i have ever heard. Also what meant by cwk2 signed it meaning the ovation tag inside, not the actual guitar.

If you don't tell anyone that cwk2 poses as Beal on this board, the signature probably won't devalue the guitar as much.
And be sure to point out how much effort it took for him to sign it through those little holes.

One's got a wood top and one has a carbon fiber top. Jeez, that was easy......

The guitar like this one that I've played, has a big wood sound. Because of the trim ring, the deep bowl is slightly deeper, giving it more sound than a 1537. Very very good guitar.

So why didn't they go to production with a model with a wood top and a trim ring?

Probably cost considerations. When it 1537 came out in 1981 is was about the same list price as a D28. Maybe they figured anything more expensive would be tough to sell and would canibalize the adamas market. Just a guess.

Tup may be right. I don't know. Keep in mind that the 1537 only lasted in it's original configuration for about 1 1/2 years, at which time it started to be "cheapened" (?) in it's construction.

Hey! That guitar looks just like the project guitar I was trying to design. So much for originality. Here was my photoshop enhanced combination of a 1537 and an Adamas I from last month ...

Say Vince, change the head and bridge on your photoshop model, give it a shallow bowl, and you'd end up with one of these genuine factory Adamas prototypes . . .

So how many of these were ever made? And were they something Ovation was going to sell as a production piece? Or ?? What exactly are these other than very cool and very beautiful.
Al's has a slightly better look (if that's possible) I think it has a larger body. It has given me GAS since I first saw it. I need the carbon tops with the cutaway, modern electronics, and the slightly less collectable and not as valuable guitars for my gigs or I would have been working toward it a while ago.

No, that's the one Playadamas has in his office. I would doubt if there were more than 5-10 of these built, at most. They were the prototypes for the 1537's.

Had one but i sold it.I was told by the factory employee who sold it to me that three woodtop proto's were made just before the elite series came out.I dont think Al's was one of the three. It was a wonderful sounding guitar,i just never played it.Never liked the feel of the neck on it.Felt baseball batlike.Heres a pic of it.

Soon after i had the custom slothead woodtop adamaslike built. The neck on this one is perfect and the sound is amazing in my view.

Now that i see the pics of the one at the factory. That might be the one i had.It did not have any label in it so not having the CWK2 signature brought my value up at least $1500

This is what the Collector's 2009 should look like.

I think the broccoli head and carved bridge is corresponding much better to the wood top than to a composite top.

Beautiful guitars!

only the first two had the necklace inlays and Glen has one and I have the other.

There were very few of these made that cas has. I have one that was an experiment to see if we could use straight polyester finish which was very hard and would cold crack easily. We put a layer of real fine glass cloth, soaked it in the finish and put it on the top. The whole thing was then put against a flat plate and a the air sucked out and allowed to cure. Result is a nice flat shiney finish that is reinforced. In the end we didn't use this approach, too hard to do it. I found this guitar several years ago and it still sounds great. Has a finish crack though....
