What is happening to the OFC?

Everything was so normal and smooth a few days ago.

Now, there are 2 sites, people are freaking out, clones of members in another place, no site of Al, members bitchin', rejoicin', complaining', tons of new pictures, videos, new groups,
what IS GOING ON!

I am confused. . .

que pasa?

carajo!

In a nutshell?

Lots of people asked for improvements, but lots of people apparently forgot to say don't change anything.

Be careful what you ask for - because you just might get it !!!

I have no idea what's going on, it's like the OFC world is spinning off its axis or something. I feel really bad for Miles because he has obviously put a lot of effort into this (both sites). I visited the new site on 3-4 occasions and try as I might to have an open mind, I just fucking hate it. And what I hate more, is the fact I was one of the more vocal ones asking for changes.

Sorry but I think I just need to stick my foot in my both, shut up, and go away. I feel really, really bad about his and in a small way partially responsible. If the old OFC goes away maybe something can rise from its ashes like an Ovation Old Farts Club or something.

Country Artist, be carefull of typing in CAPITAL letters, there are some sensitive people who take offense to that.
You have been forwarned.
The new site keeps kicking me off so I do not like it at this point.
Hey maybe thats why they are changing it  GWB

GWB....typing a Thread title in all caps is sometimes acceptable depending on the length of title and importance of title.

Typing EVERY TITLE IN CAPS REGARDLESS OF CONTENT is what gets annoying. Typing in all caps is considered to be YELLING and is considered RUDE the majority of the time.

Thanks for mentioning it. We were wondering if you ever noticed our comments or just ignored your own threads after you created them.

Heh heh....Randy, just look for the threads that are in all caps and you will see the many repeated but ignored requests from some of us (the WE) to cut out the annoying CAPS.

Obviously falling on deaf ears...........

Hmmm, at least then I could take my guitars on flights as carry-on luggage right?

Now that I think about it, if I let everyone on my Secret Service detail carry a guitar case, they'd look like they were packing hardware substantially more effective than a side-arm.

Two good perks! You've talked me into it!

As I'm certain I can expect the OFC's support, I expect at least 5600 write-in votes come November. :p

There is no NEW site. There is NO SITE that is GOING AWAY.

There is now a "social networking" aspect to the OFC. You can use it, not use it, etc etc...

If you use only these forums, as most do.. You'll be hard pressed to notice anything different.

However, if you go exploring... you'll find stuff. It's that simple.

Miles,

I like the way you say that. It reassures me.

Why not add, in the "Hop To" menu, a link to what I'm now calling, the OFC2, as well as an easy link from there to here?

I like this site better. The other is too atomized. Maybe adding video, music, the chat, the subgroups for recording and geography here would be good.

But that's the whole problem - there's no easy way (if any way at all for some of those things) for Miles to do that on OFC Classic. As Miles has said, this site will remain for the Forum. The other site offers all those other capabilities.

I was emailed by a member that Miles announced that this site will be the forum and the other site will be for the multimedia stuff. Sounds like a good compromise to me. Dave

One POV is that when you pay 'membership' some folks expect special consideration because, "Hey, I pay your salary!" ...and the whole layer of inferred bureaucracy that goes with THAT.

This way is simpler. Everyone gets the same amount of c$@p, except Cliff. He gets most of Slipkids share as well....

....just buy stuff from the OFC store. That'll support it fine, I think. But I'm just talking through my hat(s).

As always donations are accepted or buy something from the store. Google ads make up the difference.

Phil hit the nail on the head. With any sort of pay "membership" comes "privileges" and "expectations" which neither Al nor I have time to support.

I wasn't implying membership. I was just suggesting that we throw some money at the instigators of this place to keep it running.

Donations, not membership fees. Donations = 100% profit. :D
